Can you show us the whole pen?

And a few more photos of the nib?  I would love to see the feed as well. I also suggest googling  “Meisterstück 136 nib“.

The breather hole on that nib looks wrong: they are circular and not oval. The nib definitely needs a good cleaning.

No. This looks like a more modern 1970s nib. The imprinted design on older nibs like the 136 nib is different (especially the pointy part of the design pointing towards the tipping was really pointy and not rounded like on this one).

Those 1970s nibs can tarnish to a coppery red due to their composition.

Also the breather hole should be round and not rectangular as mentioned before and I have never seen Montblanc nibs with cut-outs on the sides from the factory like this one.

Please share more infos and pictures of this pen.

cheers

Michael

I wonder if this nib was modified by a nibmeister to be more elastic? That would explain the cutouts and much larger breather hole to accommodate the requirement for more ink on the down-stroke? I have seen cutouts like this done on Nakaya nibs but not the expanded breather hole.

All the Best.

Leonardo pens does the same trick with cut outs on their cheaper steel nibs to get flex on their EF and F nibs.

For comparison purposes this is a similar nib (same engravings or imprints) of my vintage 146

The one shown above looks like a customized one, not production.
