Cross Parts

I'm in the UK and getting Cross parts and support is very poor.

  • I want a simple Selectip Purple 0.7mm and haven't been able to get one for a couple of years.
  • I want a broad nib section for one of my Century pens. Not available for over a year.

The last contact with Cross UK told me they were changing suppliers but that should have happened by now. I tried to contact Support in the UK and you get various phone options, none of which are for consumers. Forms are ignored as I reported a dubious pack of ballpen refills and got no response.

Is it the same in the USA and elsewhere please? It almost feels like Cross are in financial trouble and closing down bits of the organisation.

@PeterG.UK it looks like Cross UK are gone, the UK distributor is Manuscript. Also they are tardy in importing anything and getting it to retailers. There accounts were also late when I last checked companies house

Such a shame to read the activity here. I own a few Cross pens, all bought around 2009. I remember Cross customer service used to be outstanding. They were responsive, very helpful and the whole experience felt substantial, if you know what I mean. I visited the UK site recently and was struck by how sparse the stock appeared to be, and very surprised to see some of the models seemingly discontinued, particularly the Century II. I own two of those, one sterling silver, the other blue lacquer with a sterling silver cap. Very pretty pens. It will be interesting to see what comes next from Cross, I could use a couple of spare nibs!

For the refill try cult pens. Not sure about nib sections. I can’t find any anywhere at any retailers either this side of the pond or US. Also cross’s online forms or emailing the company that owns them also does not work.

Thanks Mark. I regularly use Cult Pens but no luck on these parts. I have filled in forms on the UK and US sites and as you say, nothing comes back. Based on this experience I wouldn't buy another Cross pen.

@PeterG.UK I also emailed the company that owns cross Transom Capital and they did not respond either.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
