Diamine Hells Bells (German Exclusive)

Fascinating bit of trivia here - the bell used by AC/DC on their tour for this song was cast in Loughborough at John Taylor Bell Foundry.  I toured the foundry decades back when I was a postgraduate at L'boro, not long after the bell for AC/DC was cast there.  Along the way, the foundry made a few other bells, including for places such York Minster.

There's a Wikipedia entry on the foundry :

John Taylor & Co - Wikipedia

along with the foundry's own webpage :

Britain’s Last Major Bellfoundry | Loughborough Bellfoundry Trust

Amazing place to visit decades back, and I expect that it still is...

Thanks @PJohnP for sharing this info. 🙏 I recently saw in a documentary the making of a bell, the "traditional way". It's a fascinating process. I don't want to think of the logistics of moving, hanging, dismounting of a bell during an AC/DC tour. ;)

... but, to the best of my knowledge, they don't manufacture inks.

Thank you, @yazeh, for your effort in acquiring and reviewing this ink! It is, as always, a pleasure to watch and to read!

Heavy Metal Inspired Drawing is a totally new art style - shapes are moving on the paper while shaking (banging) the head! Those can no longer be called "still life". ;)

While I absolutely love this colour - yes, I do 🤷‍♀️ - I hesitated buying it, because of the expected mess it will do when becoming wet or even damp when on paper and with all those dried ink crystals spreading over the desk when opening the bottle. 🙄 I have a similar ink from Colorverse which I adore but requires something like an L3 laboratory to be used. ;)  So, I will skip this Hell's Ink from Diamine.

Yes, that's the main problem with this ink. It needs desert like conditions :D

This time mouse seems to be on the receiving end while cat is exceptionally active. I feel pleased by the quantity and by the quality of your drawings! 👍 :)

Looking forward to your next review!

Thanks!. For next week the drawings will be quite different. :)

Great review with lots of wonderful art pieces - thank you @yazeh. I’m not sure about the ink … it looks a bit “orcish” to me, meandering from dark teal to oily black. It’s that oily black part that I don’t like. Reminds me too much of Diamine 1864 Blue Black which I absolutely hate. If it was a touch less saturated in the darker parts, it could have been a winner.

The AC-DC tie-in is cool - but their music has passed me by. And after listening to the song… nope… still not my thing. I recently discovered “industrial rock” and Rammstein… turns out that I like their style a lot. I’ve been working my way through all their albums and excellent music videos.

The oily black/orcish part is the sheen. But orc or no orc, I feel the same about the same ink.

The other ink that I'll review at some point is Master of Puppets (Metallica). I tried listening to it several times, but couldn't relate to it :)

It's fun when one discovers new music. Enjoy :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
