Very impressive; all those drawings and numbers to overawe. That said, I am a little intrigued that this is the "FOUNTAIN PEN WITH QUICK-FILLING COUPLING" and keep thinking what would be the slow filling version- a cartridge / converter?

Thanks, Hari.

It's not one for me, but I have to admire the practical design work that's gone into it.

I'm sure they've done due research, but cannot imagine the market for this one?

I'd consider it a very complicated system!

An extract from the patent:

[0011] The fountain pen according to the invention is thus configured to establish a writing state by closing the first and third sealing units and opening the second sealing unit. By opening the first sealing unit, closing the second sealing unit and closing the third sealing unit, the writing tank can be refilled with ink from the main tank. In so doing, the fountain pen should be slightly tilted so that the writing tip points downwards. By opening the first and third sealing units as well as closing the second sealing unit, ink can be fed into the main tank and the writing tank via the coupling.

With all the complications, this should have been called the "desk traveler's" pen  like the "desk divers" who wear dive spec watches.

the simpler and elegant methods were already taken perhaps.

This is a disease, called " German overengineering ". Or how you complicate a simple problem with over the top solutions.

Like a modern Beemer M5, it has a total of more than 400 setup combinations tot adopt your ride.

The combinations of a normal Montblanc Traveler and as much cartridges you like can never be beaten by a piston-filled fountainpen as it comes to travelling .

@senceryan indeed sounds no good, since it is new playing the apprentice wizzard is no option in case you decide to return it to MB later on. So you got two options, back to Montblanc or a nibmeister. Up to you.

I replaced the nib of the pen I bought on 3.03.2025 with an OB nib; it arrived at the end of December, and I just refilled it for the first time, and the nib was writing with a very bad, scratchy sound.

I am not happy

Sounds very dry! Does this improve after a few lines of writing?

Is this the new traveller pen? If so, do you have the knob in the correct writing position - if that is applicable?

Members have different opinions on this subject, but if it was mine, it'd be going straight back to Montblanc.

Good luck.
