I am mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore

A bad pen from any manufacturer can turn a person off from all pens by that manufacturer and really you should expect it to write well out of the box no need for returning it to be repaired or sending it to an aftermarket pen repairer. Endless returns to the manufacturer, wasted time and money have personally made me turn a blind eye to several pen companies.

I wonder how many of these companies know that people sometimes buy their pens to be used and not just to be 'pocket jewelery'.

As I have said before don't put up with bad quality, let the store/ seller know you are not happy and the distributor of the pens and the manufacturer of the pens.

Here's a thread to collect contact information for pen manufacturers and their distributors so everyone has a resource to easily find contact information for when your new pen does not perform. These are the people that should be made aware of it.

If you have contact information for any manufacturer ( or distributor or mega-owner) please add it or if it should be changed I will make the correction and I will sort alphabetically and pin the list.

Good idea, but I would caution against getting too liberal with posting the senior leadership email addresses. Granted, we are their customers and our purchases pay their mortgages, but those direct lines of communication are very powerful and should be used only when necessary. I feel that our community as a whole has the appropriate self-monitoring skills not to send a vicious email to the President or VP of the company when their pen doesn't write perfectly out of the box, but on a global level, I don't feel that those skills are practiced as they should be.

Furthermore, with the spam bots out there that constantly troll pages like this one looking for email addresses, we could be opening the senior leadership teams to a lot of unwanted spam. If it could be traced back to FPN, it wouldn't earn us any brownie points.

Again - good idea. Let's just use caution when posting information.

Good point but if a company is owned by another company then both of these entities need to be informed.

And I was not suggesting that information that isn't public knowledge be posted. Only to have an easy list of company contact information.

But again I say that not only the person that sold you a 'bad' pen should be informed but the distributor as well as the manufacturer.

If you're concerned about spambots, why not just enter email addresses in a way that will defeat them?

bill@gNOSPAMmess.com

or

bill at gmess dot com

or put the email addresses and all the other information into a jpeg or gif and attach that as a picture -- sfaik, the spambots can't read images.

Of course, this will not keep the hot-tempered among us from firing off incendiary complaints, but I'm sure it's nothing these folks have not heard before.

That will not really make any difference in this case, though. The email addresses, along with mailto: links, are posted on the Swisher pens website. Apparently some spambots can read images. For example, go to who.godaddy.com and enter a known used domain name. An image with a distorted alphanumeric access code is displayed. Why distort the image if the access code could not be read by a spambot? Other whois sites and forums frequently use similar images, sometimes barely readable even by humans.

No, but reading the Writing A Complaint Letter section here, along with the sample, might help the livid to express themselves in a more civil tone. What is equally important is to send a complimentary letter to the manufacturers, distributors and sellers when you are happy with a pen.

Kurt...

Think you got'em all covered...'cept Esterbrook and I guess folks just gotta go to the last know address in Trenton, NJ and yell at the building...

The other issue...

Am I just lucky? I never seem to have these angst-inducing issues other folks have. I buy a pen, I ink it up, it writes. I got pens I like better'n others. I have my legendary burn-on for MBs...just on general principles as well as crappy overall performance that stems from distain by the manufacturer for the common folk. But I don't think I can every recall having to send a pen back because it was screwed. Richard B. had to straighten the nib on my Cross Verve...but I dropped it on a concrete floor, so that was MY fault.

I think your list is a great public service...I just hope my luck continues to hold...

Hmmm . . . I have had pens with problems from Sheaffer, Waterman, Parker, Hero, and Cross. Esterbrook is no longer in existence. Parker no longer makes the "51". And the Levenger TW had quite a few problems in its first version (which have since been corrected in the second). ALL pen companies make mistakes, which is why they have QC and Customer Service. If I understand Kurt's intent, this thread is an effort to provide one place where we can find the contact info for all the current companies - quite helpful and appreciated, Kurt! I agree with buying from the more reliable companies, but as to only buying from the ones that don't make bad pens . . . well, you'll have no FPs.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
