But don't forget, prices are in Canadian dollars.  A bargain if you're used to seeing things priced in US dollars.

It says auction authorization required.
I cannot seem to register and bid.

First you have to create an account with their website.  The typical email/password thing you set up for any website.

Once that is done then you must register for the auction.  That requires a credit card, billing address, shipping address, etc.  It's what you would provide to a retailer upon checkout, only this is an auction house requiring that you show you're "good for it" before they let you bid.  Or in this case, before they even let you see the lots.

If you aren't used to this kind of thing, there is a "buyer's premium" that is added onto the final bid price.  That's very different from eBay and other where what you bid is what you pay.  In other words, on eBay the seller pays the house, whereas here the buyer pays the house.

I have no experience with napenauctions.com, not having even heard of them until this post.

I did all of that, may be the auction is not yet open to bid on.

I can confirm that bids are being placed.

Perhaps check your email to see what status/error messages you have received?

Apparently you need to wait for registration confirmation.

If you mean me, than no. I sold nice pens and I am still selling some. In that auction where lots of nice-looking pens. So,  I didn't even have a second look at the pens. Just to make sure that I don't get weak. 😁

Actually, I have a problem that I don't like broad nibs like F, M or worse. The pens which I sold had F or M nibs. I expect that most pens from that auction also have such nibs. Useless for me, as I prefer EF or XXF.

Anyway, I hope some people got their dream pens.

I won a few pens. It became a bitter-sweet experience when I got the invoice.

There is a 24% buyer's premium, which, to be fair, was disclosed. However, ~$80 for shipping from Canada to the US is excessive considering the package is not likely to exceed 1lb.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
