Pen ID please possible LUS pen

Gadget

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to ID this pen, it is not in my posession but the images of the pen were supplied showing a Sheaffer nib, i assumed the inlay top was actaully under the barrel but it turns out the images were incorrectly supplied, after some excellent help in the Sheaffer section and some digging i have narrowed the pen down to LUS.. but which LUS pen is it .. a possible example pen or travelling sales pen perhaps ??

I know nothing about Italian pens, but that hood looks so pretty, and the cap also.

Well i did some more research... or should i say, a heck of a lot more searching, using your comments from previous and eveyone elses thoughts and i ( Think ) it is Italian.. and i ( Think ) it is LUS and maybe Atomica of some sort... i did find an exact match of the nib section on (some for sale website in Italy but the cap was described as non original and different and it was basicaly in bits) no i remember now, it was worthpoint showing an older ebay listing but as i dont subscribe i couldnt find out the cost of there version

That is about as far as i have got so far, so i thought i might pop a question in the Italian section to see if any of the Italian experts had some thoughts

Why should it be a LUS, when it is indicated Universal ?

Also the VV on the clip lookk similar to other Universal clips.

I'm not expert of those 2 brands, but it does not look a LUS to me.

I have been round the Google for a few hours, reading and looking and searching, it does say Universal, correct but then i happened on this thread

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/79811-lus-atomica-and-aqua-pen-fill-them-with-water-and-will-write-with-ink/

So it is fair to say... it fits somewhere in a lineup of manufacture pens and or parts but which ones exactly is proving so far elusive

also on this website, the Pens do show a striking resemblance to the ( Universal ) pen in the pictures

https://newpentrace.net/articleGA02.html

And just to note, searching using the term " Universal fountain pen" fair to say does not go well

and i have now found that there are 2 Universal pen companies, 1 Italian, 1 Usa, and there were examples of nibs being shared between the 2 companies although both seperate in there own right, old threads on the board contain some info but alas not all images are available today

Sorry, Im missing the connection between the page you linked and your pen.

For me there is no correlationn within your pen and LUS, and your pen is jus simply an "UNIVERSAL" as the pen is marked.

You can find more informations about the brand Universal in the following page, which you can translate in english via google translator:

https://www.fountainpen.it/Universal

In the case of your pen, the logo printed is that one uf Universal Spa, the last of the Universal listed.

https://www.fountainpen.it/Universal_S.p.A.

Also the V on the clip look similar to that one of the picture.

I don’t mind PC or PGC, as others type; but if you type the @ sign and the first letter of a name, it brings up usernames and alerts the user about the post. For example: @Gadget

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
