Aerometric. Tha cap says Made in England, the body says Parker "51" X/F and nothing more.
Any idea when it was made?

Without any markings on the barrel or nib my estimation would be mid 1960s.

I anticipate that you already know that the pen is very desirable for those collectors who are looking for a 51 in perfect and untouched original condition.

Thank you.

Well, it has got no box and for some reason the barrel has got some tiny microscratches, despite the pen is unused, but I have not been planning to sell it anyway.

A look at the Parker 51 timeline might help you to find out when the pen was made: https://parker51.com/index.php/education/51-chronology/

Have you unscrewed the barrel?

Thank you.

Yes, sure. The unscrewing did not help much apart from what has been guessed above (50s).

The cap suggests mid '60's. Are you going to ink and use it or is it one for the draw?

Thank you. Currently I am probably leaving it as is and shall see later :)

Hello aurore, Nice English 51. Several features can give a fairly close date. Aerometrics in this body style were made in England from 1950-69. There were 3 aero filler units, the last one without the black plastic end dates from 1965. Also, the cap can help date this pen. The halo appeared on the cap in 1958.  As others have said, enjoy your pen. It's a beauty. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I am not on the best screen to see a halo or not on the cap, is there such a mark?

This continues the old discussion of use or preserve. If you already have a 51 that is well used and appreciated do you put that to one side and use a new and unused 60+ year old 51, especially one with chalk marks?

That depends. The style of the filler and the imprint might be an additional aid to dating the pen.

What feature of the cap suggests mid-1960s?

The line or band around the bottom of the cap is no longer present which I think was mid 60's. Of course with so many factories and variations nothing with Parkers is ever cut and dried.

I've been trying to figure out what is happening at the bottom of the cap. Does it have 51 impressed on the side? ...and another edit - is the jewel black or is that just the lighting?

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
