Custom Wax Seal

I decided that I wanted a stamp that I could not find so I decided to get a custom stamp. I also knew that I would need some help with the artwork. I read here that some businesses would simply reject your art but I wanted someone who might actually help me convert it into something usable.

I chose a company in the UK (I am in the states).

First, I sent them a copy of what I wanted for feedback

The converted it into a suitable image for their use

After placing the order, it took one to two business days before my package was shipped (with complete tracking).

The major hold-up was clearing customs in Chicago; that took almost a week. After it cleared customs, a day or two and I had it. Total elapsed time was just under two weeks.

The stamp was packaged very nicely completely with a “thank you” stamp. Nice touch.

The contents was very nicely packaged in a net-like cloth bag with a draw string that included two samples, the stamp with a handle, and two pieces of wax. The image shows the wax seal while using an ink pad with the stamp.

So my image is a bit blurry here, but, everything is very clean and nicely done. I am very impressed.

The handle is a little fatter than the cheap stamps I buy from say Amazon. It is very nice.

They include two very nicely done samples. One sample, which is visible above, used an ink pad that will cause the raised areas to be in a different color and one sample that without the ink pad. I have not used ink pads in the past, but the effect seems to be worth it.

Note that I was a bit skeptical with the fine lines in the flower and had considered editing the image to reduce the number of lines in the “petals”, but these are all very clear.

You can choose the size and I chose a 30mm (1.18") stamp. So, my choices increased the cost to £47 with another £12 for shipping.

I am very pleased with my order.

Good for you! And thanks for posting this, it is great to know of another source of great quality stationery traps (Grrr....).

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

This is really cool.  I'm impressed with the details of the fine lines, they leave a great impression in the wax, I certainly would have worried about that too.  I also would have worried that the design would come out pixelated, but this appears to have smooth curves and no stair-stepping.  And considering that everything seems so expensive today, that price looks great, too.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
