Read today that Griffonage means bad or scrawled handwriting. Of course you all knew this already, didn't you?

Love the etymology - it actually means "claw-age" :lticaptd:, which is perfect.

That's an excellent addition to my vocabulary, thanks, @nigelg!  And yes, @LizEF, the etymology makes it even better.  I think maybe Quin and Makhabesh need to meet a griffon somewhere. :)

In paleography they have the technical term "littera inintelligibilis" for the hand of Thomas Aquinas.
