I'm a fan of the Opus 88. I have the beige/turquoise version with the stub nib. I like your color way.

I just looked that one up and it's beautiful!

And a photo that shows its color more accurately, along with the red version of the Custom 845 Urushi:

I don’t know what I do to watches, @Baka1969. They just die. I would wear them to make Dad happy and because they really are beautiful, but they don’t function. Some wind, some had batteries, but that’s all I know. They are all pretty, delicate ladies’ watches. They live in the bank, someday they’ll get repaired.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 20 currently inked pens:

Sheaffer 100 Satin Blue M, Pelikan Moonstone/holographic mica

Brute Force Designs Pequeño Ultraflex EF, Journalize Horsehead Nebula

Pilot Custom 743 <FA>, Oblation Sitka Spruce

Pilot Elite Ciselé <F>, Colorverse Dokdo

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

I'm now thinking back to the guy I dated for a couple of years in college.  For Christmas one year, he bought me a Seiko Quartz watch.  I said, "But I HAVE a watch!"  And he said, "Oh, but THIS one you don't have to wind...."

After we broke up the second time, the watch died.  It was going to cost me some huge amount of money to get it repaired.  So I tossed in the trash and bought a $20 watch from IIRC Sears....  And eventually that died, but in way longer time than the Seiko did....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I am saddened that you've had these issues. I'd be interested in what Patek and Omega models they are. Are you ham-fisted with them? The Patek isn't designed for abuse like other watches are.

It's one of my better writers. I know it's just a Jowo stub nib, but it writes smoothly while giving nice line variation. It's also a great signature pen with a ton of character and flair. I think I have about four or five other nibs for it. Yet I keep the stub on it. Plus it just seems to feel right in the hand.

I don’t think I’m ham fisted. Watches just stop working on my body. I don’t know what they are, The Patek has a bracelet that is rose, yellow, and white gold horizontal tubes that looks kind of ladder like (going by memory because it’s been awhile since I’ve changed my jewelry). The Omega has a white gold bracelet and two rows of diamonds where the bracelet meets the face, this poor watch had the hands fall off.

As a watch collector, this sounds very strange to have these issues.

If I remember the story correctly, my maternal grandfather had such static electricity, he couldn’t wear a watch.

This makes sense, I get zapped by and zap others with static electricity on the regular.

They’re very sentimental. I miss my dad.

I dunno about @Penguincollector, but I am a klutz of legendary cackhandedness - I can break pretty much anything.

Being aware of that, the watch that I wear day-to-day is a Citizen 'Eco-drive' (solar powered) ISO-certified diver's watch.
It is certified to a depth of 200m (~ 660 ft).

OK, I have absolutely no intention of ever going diving, but that certification means that I can swim while wearing it, and also that its stainless steel case is robust enough that it can cope with most of my scapegrace ineptitude.
(I did once manage to knock the rotating bezel off it, but happily was able to refit it on to the watch. I use the watch's rotating bezel as e.g. a kitchen timer.)

I have a ton of watches. My bomb-proof watch is the Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GWG 1000. It looks like a hockey puck on my wrist. It might just be able to survive a nuclear explosion.

And here we are at the time when so many special memories come at us. I’ve been thinking about my parents a lot this month. Oh how I miss them.

Lovely blue pens in this thread! congrats all!

Here are two of mine, on the right a classic Parker Centennial in blue marble and on the left a Bexley prototype which Howard did using the same resin from some Parker leftover stock!

Along with a buddy, here is a new blue pen for me. It’s the Kaweco Frosted Light Blueberry.

I love the frosted blue, it’s so pretty, like a robin’s egg. The friend is also cute.

I’m sorry that we’re both in this situation. I hope that your memories bring you comfort and that you get to spend some time with your loved ones this holiday season.
