Beautiful handwriting. The big Boheme is an incredible pen that fits my hand perfectly. What was the reason to discontinue this line of pens?,it was an attractive design.

I asked myself the same question many times. The Bohéme was one of the more prolific and “experimental” lines (in terms of materials and finishes) among Montblanc’s series of writing instruments.

Anyway, the result is that today you have to pay an higher price for a used Bohéme, with limited choice, than you was requested for a new pen in a Boutique a few years ago…

Maybe this will concur in making them rarest and more legendary.

As per request as to the inks used in this series, these are, from the top, an old bottle of Montblanc Blue Black, Montblanc Royal Blue, and Graf von Faber Castell Carbon Black.

If they're the ones with retractable nibs, some reviews reported the inner parts had a tendency to rust/degrade. Whether it was common, I don't know.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

What a beautiful post, Franco — a tribute to a Montblanc marvel — I love the now discontinued Boheme line.  And to the observation by chromantic, I have never had a problem with degradation of the mechanism.

Well, the corrosion of the terminal, metal ring, was in fact quite a common problem with the retractable Bohémes and also with the ones with a fixed nib. The reason for the rust was not, generally, the ink, but the cleaning procedure of the pen. People used to let the water run inside the barrel to expel the rests of the ink. This water, trapped inside the barrel, provoke the damage to the ring.

For long time, Montblanc sold a special, long "syringe-cartridge", to insert within the barrel like a normal cartridge in order to blow-out the ink from the nib and feeder, without leaving any water within the barrel. I bough half a dozen of those syringes and use them religiously to clean my new Bohémes, and they never had problem of sort. The only pen I bought used, my golden line midsize with fixed nib, has large spots of rust on the ring.

I also have one of those plastic, pipette-looking tools but I have never had to use it.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
