Gel Refill for Montblanc Rollerball?

I'd liked to convert my Montblanc rollerball into a gel ball. I like the rollerball, but I like gel balls even better. Does anyone sell a gel refill that fits a Montblanc RB?

Regards,

Ray

I haven't seen gel refills for rollers, but I just got some Yafa gels for Mont Blanc ballpoints... they're much better than the Staedtler refills that were out a couple of years ago.

Someone at Paradise Pen said that MB was suing Yafa to stop Yafa from making the refills... has anyone else heard this?

I cannot imagine the legal theory under which MB would succeed in such a suit. However, perhaps just the threat is enough, but I highly doubt it.

Question...

Do any gel refills (or even rollerball) fit a LEGRANDE MB ?????

HELP, please.

Yafa makes both rollerball and gel refills for Montblanc ballpoints, but not sure if this includes the LeGrande. Take a look at the pictures and dimensions of the refills at http://www.yafaoutlet.com/rethfitmoblp.html

how do Yafa gel refills compare to normal BP ones in a the MB ball point pen?

I was going to go for normal BP refills for my MB ballpoint, but I'm keen to look at the gels.

I like gel better, but fear it would not be as safe leakwise, or for drying out?

I prefer a gel to write with, but I want to know if it is as safe as a balllpoint to carry about in the MB pen. A ball point can twist back in and be safe with its dry ink. How do you find the gel refills work instead? Do they sit safely in the twist mechanism pen? Leak?

Thoughts would be appreciated!

I carry gel pens in my shirt pocket, but only the ones that have a cap and are carried nib up. I've read reports of people who have had leaks carrying gel pens in their pocket nib down. If the gel pen is button or twist retractable, I don't carry it in my shirt pocket.

hi, I was wondering if you did find solution to your little problem, but I bought a cheap (less that $1) gel refill and rigged it to my Montblac roller ball and it is working perfect and writes better than original refill, later on I found out that the gel refill from Pilot G2 is almost identical to MB with very little or NO modification at all, I am not too sure about the model pen you have, but I assume it uses standard MB refill, and you don't have to worry about how and when you carry it in your pocket, as I never heave seen or heard the leak problem, unless in extreme cases of heat or atmospheric pressure changes good luck.

Which pen refill did you use for the rollerball? The Pilot G2?

OK, this is a very old thread I am resurrecting, but just in case someone out there is still wondering ...

there IS an excellent gel refill that fits MB rollerballs and it is the CROSS rolling ball gel refill. The Cross gel is the smoothest, non-blobbing gel refill out there. It is a tiny bit short for the MB rollerball pens, easily remedied by wrapping a short lenth of scotch tape around the end of the refill, thereby lengthening it by about 1/2 inch. The tape crunches into the end of the barrel thus pressing the point firmly into the ferrule of the pen.

Works like a charm with all my MB rollerballs, writes like a dream.

You're absolutely right RSX, the Cross "Selectip Rolling Ball" gel refills are excellent and with the tape on the end they fit quite securely. I bought several refills today for a Mont Blanc 163 Classique (fifty cents at a thrift store!). I tried several refills and these Cross gels beat the Mont Blanc brand refills by a mile. Much smoother writing and the black Cross gel ink is much nicer than the MB Mystery Black. I'm expecting it will last considerably longer as well being a gel ink - less prone to dry out. Thanks for the tip. Someone out there was indeed still wondering.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
