Wearever - An Ode to the Worst Pens Ever Made

I bought one of the hooded one ones NOS with a bunch of cartridges in its blister, I'm keeping mine unused for the novelty. I did pilfer a few cartridges from the package to use for other Wearever cartridge pens though.

I like them and bought several when they were less expensive.  After some life issues I realize less stuff, but better quality has advantages at times.

Must admit I have a soft spot for the Wearever. I used to buy job lots of pens from America on Ebay, perhaps 40 at a time, often Wearever, piston filled Traveler, Sheaffer cheapie cartridge pens (often advertising pens) and I used to try and have them working again, Some of the Wearevers were good looking pens.

 

I remember Richard B suggesting, 'we should take another look at the Wearever'.

For what it's worth, I find the 1930s Wearever pens in celluloid to be fun.  Their weakness is in their nibs which are often found to be pitted or worn flat but a nib can be replaced.  I have no use for the later cartridge Wearevers, however.
