What is like a gold Pilot Vanishing Point nib?

CoolBreeze

Recommended Posts

I have a Pilot Vanishing Point with a fine gold nib and I just love it. I just love its bounce, its tipping geometry, its line width, and flow. In other words everything!  Its just wonderful to feel it on the paper and the ink looks perfect from it. I'm looking to try other style of pens and I'm curious if there are any other nibs out there that are similar to this in performance and feel. Thanks in advance!

There's no bounce with the Vanishing Point, that's for sure. The nib is literally shaped like a nail(but pretty soft).

Is that your only FP?

For variation, you could try a Lamy 2000 or a Pilot Falcon...

Try a vintage Parker 51.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 30 currently inked pens:

Parker Duofold Centennial IM, RO Rose Gold Antiqua

Parker Duofold Lady needlepoint, MB Cool Grey

Pelikan M800 needlepoint, Kuretake Shikon

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

I beg to differ. Mine has wonderful bounce to it. It's what I like most about it. It is not my only fountain pen.

I also never thought of them as bouncy. I have found that "bouncy" is so subjective. For example BO BO Olsen swears by the Pelikan m200 steel to be bouncy when I don't. Yea they are not nails, but bouncy...

And I find the Lamy Dialog 3 and GvFC  gold nibs bouncy while he doesn't.

Maybe, just like water boils at different temperature depending on altitude, nibs also perform different. Who knows.

All I know is that I have 3 Capless pens for about 4-5 years and have not used them to write more than 5-6 pages in total. Not my favourite pens. Perhaps I should sell them....

Or send me one for Xmas.  My psychiatrist told me not to buy more pens.  I do like those soft nibs.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Back in the days when real stores existed, I was allowed to dip-test a Pilot VP.  It was the most wonderful nib I ever tried to that point, and I was sorely tempted, but couldn't get past where the clip was.

So yes, the nibs will vary.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
