I own a few vintage Montblancs but there can never be enough. I was wondering who is reputable to look at for some vintage models I am not really looking for a specific pen just some people to watch for.

Interested in this as well.

I saw a site recommended on here before and contacted them. Was told something about selling someones collection so send paypal as friends and family to a different paypal account to theirs and when that person tells them the money was lodged then they would post the pen.

So many red flags there.

There are at least two good dealers that don't specialize but usually have nice selections of vintage Montblancs:

https://gopens.com/

and

https://www.thepenguinpen.com/main

Chatterly Luxuries also has a few choice vintage pens amid the more recent productions models for sale from time to time. And of course, others will chime in with many other vendors, I'm sure.

Having met some of the proprietors at www.penboard.de and www.vintageandmodernpens.co.uk I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Unfortunately gopens.com is no longer in business as far as I know. The owner is Gary Lehrer, and he unfortunately passed away in early January 2022.

Didn't he operate the site with his wife? The site is still active, at least for the time being, and there are 5 different 1/3 of a year catalogs you can shop from (the older the catalog, the more picked through it is). The next catalog is due about now and I don't see any sign of it, so the site may be winding down.

Chatterley Luxuries sells vintage Montblancs, some on consignment.  [Disclaimer:  I have had MBs listed on Chatterley]

I highly recommend Dr. Osman Sumer for vintage Montblanc and Pelikan pens. I have bought numerous vintage Montblanc pens from him. He is extremely well known by serious MB collectors around the world. Osman restores all the pens he has in his inventory before selling them. He guarantees all the pens he sells. In my opinion Osman is the most knowledgeable person when it comes to vintage pens. He does not have a website but attends all the major pen shows in Europe and the USA.

On eBay, I recommend Japanese sellers. Normally they auction various brands of pens (including a lot of old MBs) and you can normally get them for a 'fair price - slightly cheap'

One seller that I check up often is "japantreasuretrove"

I have heard of him but don't think I have been to any of the pen shows he is at yet. Does he have a list of pen shows he goes to? I am planning on going to Raleigh this year but I am not sure if I will go to DC.

Osman will not attend the Raleigh Show. He attends the LA Pen Show, the Baltimore Show, Chicago Show, the DC Show and the Ohio Pen Show. In addition he attends many shows in Europe. All of his pens have the correct parts (nib, clip, etc). My vintage MB collection consists of almost 200 pens and 95% have been purchased from Osman. I just purchased 5 vintage Montblanc pens from him at the Chicago Show.

Japan Treasure Trove on ebay is a seller I can easily recommend. I have ordered a bunch of pens from them over the last few years.

They do weekly auctions which end on Saturday evenings, so you can sometimes get really good deals if you're patient. Or you can be impatient and pay their regular prices, as I have done a number of times. The pens are always in great condition, and the shipping from Japan to USA has tended to be about a week most of the time.

A great shop for the 1960s x2 and x4 models, as well as some great 70s models and even newer ones.

They have a 146 <F> right now for $310. 😉

I agree with you. This eBay seller is very, very good. And the EMS shipping from Japan to continental USA is often much faster than the USPS.

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows what happened with the ebay store of japantreasuretrove?  it's no longer found on ebay and the last Instagram update was 13 weeks ago. Thank you.

I have been wondering about that too - no more weekly eBay auctions, then only some Buy It Now items, and thereafter nothing at all. Their Shopify store is also gone. I do hope that they resume selling - I've had excellent service from them always and vintage MBs that I could buy with confidence.

I also endorse Osman. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a web site and none of the pen shows he attends are anywhere near me. As far as I know, he doesn't frequent any pen fora, either. If he developed an online presence, it would be very hard for me to resist purchasing from him.
