new launch- montblanc glacier legrand and solitaire legrand

What a great release, can't wait to pick one up. Anyone know if the resin LeGrand has a metal piston knob or resin. Hoping for resin, otherwise will get the solitaire I think.

@CeeloNone of the resin versions would show the piston knob, urggg! From the photos of Le Petit Prince and 80 Days series, I guess that most likely the resin versions have the metal knob too.

I finally saw the series in Boutique. The resin version has the metal knob, just like Le Petit Prince and 80 Days Around The World. The Solitaire is like Blue Hour but lighter blue. I like the resin version the most, a very beautiful blue, a kind of baby blue with a grey tone to it, very elegant (it does remind me of the Scribo Feel Blue Grey color). Nib is also kind of cool, with the glacier dragon. Not sure if I should buy it. It’s all very good but I am afraid of falling into the habit hole of getting different colors of the base LeGrand. It’s a lot more costly than someone trying to collect different colors of Lamy Safari!

The MB Boutique near me let me know they now have at least some of the pens in stock. I had decided I would not buy one, based on the photos, but, perhaps, I will stop by the Boutique tomorrow to make sure!

Follow-up — I went to the MB Boutique today — I handled the white and blue versions, classique and doue, respectively. I did not like the white version at all — more to the point, the PVD metal fittings were garish to me.  The new blue resin is certainly appealing — I guess a gray-blue — but not to the point of wanting to spend over $1K USD on this pen! I asked about the companion inks, but they did not have any in stock.

Whilst unsurprising, such a shame the regular LeGrand retained the metal piston knob of recent releases. That pale blue resin is incredibly attractive and a full resin version would be perfect. 

 

Yesterday I went all out and ordered the solitaire LeGrand with a Fine nib. I’ve wanted the blue hour for some time but for whatever reason never pulled the trigger. I’m now glad I didn’t as I prefer the colour and pattern on the glacier. Can’t wait until it arrives in a few weeks time and get that beauty inked. 

 

Any one else else pull the trigger on one of these?

I've owned the Solitaire for 12 days now, courtesy of Cult Pens' birthday sale and the fact they had this model in stock much earlier than many other online retailers.  It's a beautiful pen:  like you I also considered the Blue Hour but could never quite persuade myself to press the Buy button, and I'm very glad I waited.  This is my first Montblanc with an "ordinary" nib, M in my case, and it was perfect out of the box.

 

I'm sure you'll love yours when it arrives.
