montblanc glacier standard
montblanc glacier solitaire

my birthday comes in  may and last year they launched around the world in 80 days in may, so i was eagerly waiting for the next part of trhe series.

but they launched this instead... already visible on montblanc europe website think if blue hour and geometric dimensions had a kid.

for the legrand true colour cant be ascertained it looks grayish...( as if someone got lazy and simply edited/ washed out a standard 146 pic)

the nib looks cools though.

as i have both blue hour and geometric dimensions may end up with just the simple version.

Not sure if glacier comes with standard star, but a quartz or mop star in cap top would make it perfect.

appreciate that montblanc has started to launch solitaires with special nibs.

It seems that the metal trims on the LeGrand Glacier Blue resin are in ruthenium, which I find an interesting and fine choice. Nibs, however, are only available in F and M.

I am delighted to see these pens — thank you — I was beginning to think I would not buy any new MB offerings this year. Given that I already have a Blue Hour and a Le Petit Prince in blue, I will likely focus on the Classique versions.

@fpupulin It’s platinum plated trim according to the description, though ruthenium plates trim would make it very handsome as well. I prefer a B or EF. OB is a kind of hit or miss (sometimes perfect, other times a very narrow sweet spot that is harder to write with).

@Toll That’s why you need this pen: it completes your three perfect shades of blue 😀😀😀!

You are such an enabler, como! I reached out to the local MB Boutique a few minutes to ask them to notify me when these pens are available.

@Toll You are on your way to be doomed 😀!! This was what happened to me in January. I heard about the MB 146 Calligraphy here on FPN. I called the shop just wanting to hear that they didn’t have it. They had, three, all reserved. Oh wait, one was not reserved. So I reserved it just to go and have a look. Well, it came home with me. You are in danger 😀!

From the Montblanc web page I read: “The Meisterstück Glacier LeGrand Fountain Pen with blue grey coloured precious resin […] is finished with a hand-crafted Au585 / 14K solid gold nib, rhodium-coated, and featuring the Mer de Glace 'dragon’ […]

Now, I am not sure if they just refer to the nib, or to all the metal trims, but from the photographs I would say that the trims are very much of the same color as the nib, and they look different from the platinum

plated trims of the Solitaire.

I guess we will have to wait until somebody would have a chance to see it in person…

@fpupulin If you click on Features of this pen, you will see “CLIP DESCRIPTION platinum coated”. They coated gold nib with rhodium and metal trims with platinum. Coating metal trims with rhodium would be too expensive for sure. I am also curious how the blue grey resin looks in person.

Thank you, my friend. I hoped the trim was like that of the Ultra Black, which I like very much. Why they decided to mix two metals is a bit of mystery for me…
