Thank you, he’s doing well. Pyrs are remarkable dogs and very resilient. And this particular dog is special, even for a Pyr. The real fun will start soon when he figures he’s 100% and should be allowed to roam and do Oso Blanco things and we won’t let him LOL. Kirk is a wizard. We communicate well and it’s easy for me to tell him what I want though he pretty much knows at this point.

Aww, hug that good boy for me!

Kirk is the best. He does get to know preferences quickly, and won’t hesitate to tell you if you’re better off replacing a pen or a part instead of getting it worked on. He’s also steered me away from some expensive popular models that he feels aren’t worth buying. He’s a good egg.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 25 currently inked pens:

Parker Duofold Centennial IM, RO Rose Gold Antiqua

MontBlanc Bohème Noir F, MB Midnight Blue

Pelikan M800 needlepoint, Kuretake Shikon

MontBlanc Noblesse M, KWZ Sheen Machine 2

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

I've finally got around to trying it -- first time using both the Meteor and the Blue-Black.

Very happy with both, even though the 'black' in the ink name is a bit of an overstatement. As far as blue-blacks go, I prefer the colour of Pelikan 4001 but the wetness of Platinum -- is there a B-B ink that combines these two preferences, anyone?

Have you tried: Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-Kai, Bungubox 4B (expensive, but Vanness has samples), Lamy B-B, KWZ B-B (there are two versions, one is iron gall- which is usually drier feeling, and one is dye, which is more blue, but close to Pelikan’s shade, I think).

Thankies. Nope, I've only tried the two I mentioned previously so far. Of the ones you mentioned now the Lamy looks tempting. Or looked, until I read here and here that it's very dry. Or looks, after seeing @LizEF's review, where she puts it 'a little to the wet side'. So here I am, browsing for inks again, no rest for the wicked. ;)

Hi Guys

It just so happens that I was writing with some Blue Blacks.....

This is a large file so double click it to enlarge

The way this enlarges is click open in new tab, then click in the new tab and it fills the screen

Before you believe me, believe @InesF's spreadsheet (if the ink is there) from her "An alternative look at ink wetness" thread and An Ink Guy on YouTube. A Japanese EF is a poor tool for judging wetness. :)

The iroshizuku shin-Kai is an excellent wet and well-lubricated ink. J. Herbin Bleu des Profondeurs is another favorite. Link to some else’s review below. @Penguincollector , hug given. Big fellow laying at my feet right now. Believe we’re booking hotel for Dallas Pen show tonight. They allow big dogs so if you’re there you can meet both.

First day I’ve gone to the office in a week and a half so a pocket pen like this E95S was just the ticket. Fine nib with kon-peki. Lot of these out there and since it only comes in two colors nearly everyone has seen one. I took a picture just for the crab!

Today is one of the new 51s from Parker.  Surprisingly smooth nib.  My vintage 51s are in no danger, but this is a nice tribute.

i haven’t purchased a new Parker in a while, are the Royal Warrants a new thing, or did I end up with a UK pen?

As of September 2025 Parker is a Royal Warrant Holder to the King.

I also think that the reference to HM the Queen means Elizabeth as opposed to the current Queen.

Parker also changed their address from Lichfield to London in August 2022

@Cjtamu -- I keep looking at Pilot Elites at pen shows (especially the burgundy ones like yours) but something always stops me from buying one....

One of these days I'm gonna overrule my "better judgement" though, because they are really nice looking pens (I would just have to see what nib widths are available, because the nib widths on Japanese pens tend to run narrower than their "Western" equivalents.

Interesting.  It’s just rare for us to see Warrants on products here in the rebel colonies.

If HM the Queen refers to Elizabeth, then HRH the PoW must have, at that moment, meant Charles.

Thanks for the info.

I think you’ll like it. If you like wider nibs you’ll probably want at least a Medium.

Not necessarily.  There is the issue of old and new stock.  Then too, there is the issue of Camilla's title(simplified before the coronation) versus her role.  She is in fact 'Queen Consort' and not 'Queen'.  I believe I am correct in believing that her warrant would be listed officially as to 'Queen Consort'.

Yes, I suspected as much.

Of course, a lot of upcoming purchases are going to depend on a bunch of factors, including having to pay income taxes in a month (as well as the usual spate of bills, and we're STILL paying down the cost of the new driveway (and the "Surprise!  You need a retaining wall next to the driveway!" that got sprung on us the day the work was supposed to start ) and I don't know how my husband will do this week for his sideline business (there have been some rumors that the numbers for the event might be down -- possibly due to the weather).  Plus there's an estate sale I'm DEFINITELY considering going to this weekend....

Hi ISR

I have 2 Pilot Elites, a fine and a medium.  The fine is very fine and the medium is a normal Pilot medium.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
