The body and cap of the 2004 LE Lamy Safari Violet BlackBerry are a good color replacement for my favorite urushi color without the menace of an allergy reaction.

Reading about your experience with poison ivy, I am glad I  decided to stick with plastic and maybe a custom pen made of acrylic later on.

Is it fair for an intelligent and family oriented mammal to be separated from his/her family and spend his/her life starved in a concrete jail?

Two Preppies and some stuff to mess around with inks. Or drugs, pick your poison. :bunny01:

You have to watch yourselves from this guy. He sneaks around the corner and drops *the bomb* each and every time 😄💣

The Kaweco AL Sport in silver tone B nib arrived today. I’ll have to choose an ink for it. Maybe the J Herbin Gris Galet I got but haven’t tried yet. It translates to pebble gray, and I have a plastic Kaweco Sport called Pebble Gray. But it has ink in it.

I have decided to venture into exploring a new (or rather an old) brand I haven´t had in my little pen accumulation until now: Soennecken.

This little beauty arrived in today´s mail:

Soennecken 333 Superior, green striped, with a 14 K BB gold nib, presumably from 1954 (at least that´s what the seller stated).

The pen is more or less the same size as the Pelikan 400 series, verly light weight, and the nib writes like a dream, also very similar to the vintage Pelikan B and BB nibs.

The pen was obviously used with care in its former life, there are some marks from the cap being posted and a few somewhat dulled spots, but absolutely nothing that a bit of polishing couldn´t remove. The trim is in very nice condition, even more so considering the pen is about 70 years old.

Depending on the light, the pen sometimes looks more green or more teal with a hint of turquoise and I have decided to pair it with Iroshizuku syo-ro ink, which seems to be a pretty good match.

Here are a few quick pics for you:

That's a real beauty, bravo! I have only one Soennecken (a 222 Extra) and am very fond of it. I hope it won't be the last.

Does the 333 also have the click-piston mechanism?

I don't think so. I have never encountered a click-piston mechanism, but the one on my 333 works just like a Pelikan piston.

And thank you for your kind remarks.

I also hope to acquire at least another one. I have seen pictures of the 111 model with a chevron pattern and I have to admit, I am in love. Maybe one day.

That’s beautiful. I’m going to need a new cabinet if y’all keep posting pens like that!

Was looking to buy my first Lamy Safari but ended up buying this Hong Dian M2 Brass with M nib instead. It came in a nice little box too. Clone of the Kaweco Sport, IMO

Safari, next opportunity 😊

Thank you.

You know, there was a time when I laughed at the idea of ever completely filling my first 20 slot pen box in my lifetime. And then I found FPN. By now, I have to stack several of those boxes. So you will either have to have a lot of stamina when it comes to resisting the urge of buying a new pen, or you will have to acquaint yourself to the idea of buying a new home for future arrivals. 😆

Oh, I have several cases stacked already. Pen rolls and kimonos. A few special pens in their lovely display boxes. And of course Kim has her own collection. Recently purchased a new 24 slot divided case to share with her! So it goes. Far worse things on which to spend money and time.

Pens are so much smaller than the other things I collect that directing available funds into pens seems like the solution to my storage woes, rather than the cause of them!

That’s funny. Especially when I look at the bikes, airguns, kites, etc. that we have “stored” in this house ha ha ha!

Hallo  Carola

Beautiful pen, congratulations. In fact, only Soennecken 111 and 222 were equipped with the click mechanism. The mechanism is located inside the blind cap and features two detents to prevent the blind cap from being turned accidentally. It’s a nice little extra, but not really necessary.

Here is a picture of my newest 222 EXTRA:

Lovely! That's the same material as my 222 Extra -- I'm not sure what it's called, but I like how subtle it is, and yet also has a lot of depth when you see it in person.

Thank you very much, also for the additional information.

Lovely 222, by the way!

The 111 set we have been talking about turned out to be a Lady size and the seller decided he still wants the money for a full grown Extra. Which is why it is again up for sale and no bidders. 🤷‍♀️

After receiving and testing the Superior I have my doubts that I would like the still smaller Lady size, even more so as I hate posting pens that aren't explicitly built for it (like a Kaweco Sport), and also seeing the traces it left on the celluloid of my 333. Which is good, as I don't have to agonize over a pen I would love to own, but not at a completely unreasonable price.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
