That is a really fine looking pen, world class.

It is not that long ago since I was criticised for suggesting that we give Chinese pens a fighting chance,  how the world has turned.

Now we need to predict what ink will be used in it first. That’s an attractive crystal clear pen.

I think that is a good point, an ink that has a reputation for staining would be a problem for me

I'm considering "Pelikan - 4001 Royal Blue".
Something light and pretty and non-staining.

I feel that this chinese pen manufacturer actually makes GOOD pens.
Asvine & Majohn/Moonman have been a quality experience for me compared to the crappy Hondian and PenBBS pens I started this fountain-pen journey with.

I think that the pen you have chosen looks great and I am sure that it will work perfectly well.

I have no issues with buying pens that can last 100 years for lunch money.

I added a few Chinese pens to my “collection”. I was very impressed by the Jinhao 82, 82 mini, Jinhao 911 and the wing sung 3013, they all writing very well, better than my Pilot Metropolitan..

the biggest problem with the other cheap pens (Stonego, Benovel F317) that the snap caps are so tight that you need to use excessive force to open the pen with the added risk of getting ink flying everywhere (already happened) is there anyway one can ease a tight cap to make it more user friendly?

Of all these pens the Jinhao 82 mini is the one that writes best

I really like the look of these Kaweco. It’s got a fifties flair that I particularly like

Tight caps can happen but will loosen over time. I bought a Sheaffer Javelin once, unused, the previous owner could not remove the cap. Push the cap away just with your thumb and push back on, do this over and over and it will improve.

Don't be tempted to try WD40 or similar.

Another problem I have is filling the pens with converters. I only manage to fill the converter half full, when I turn the pen, nib up, expecting the ink to flow to the bottom it stays up at the top so it won’t take more ink. What am I doing wrong?

The easiest fix is to keep the nib in the bottle, empty the converter, and pull up ink a second or even a third time. That should help get a better fill. If you still want to fill it to the max then you'll need to give the converter a little jerk, nib up and out of the bottle, a jerk like a tap to shift the ink to the bottom and the air to the top.

New today is my Otto Hutt design 07, the sterling silver pinstripe model, with an EF nib. It is a huge shame that Otto Hutt pens will no longer be made. I'm glad I managed to get myself one, and even more pleased that the silver grip section isn't slippery due to its shape.

It’s not just you. I empty the ink back, and refill it again to get a full fill. That way I don’t see if the ink won’t move. But I think it does.

It’s so tight you need two hands to pull the cap off, can’t do it with one hand 😄

Try this:

1.  Remove the converter from the pen and fill it directly from the bottle

or

2.  Fill the converter with a syringe

or

3.  with the converter still in the pen, draw the ink very slowly.

Not sure what the real problem is. I would simply use the ink in the part filled converter and then fill it.

...or use a cartridge and fill it with a syringe.

That's pretty much what I do.  With the pens that I have that use a cartridge/converter, I just keep reusing the old cartridges and fill them with a syringe.  I have a bunch of converters for Parkers, Sheaffers, Watermans and a few others that I almost never use.  I maybe bought the last cartridge for a Sheaffer 20 years ago (probably longer) and I just keep refilling them. Of course, if I change inks, I flush them out with the syringe.  One of these days I suppose a cartridge will wear out.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
