It would interesting to see how these compare size-wise to something like a Parker Vector.  Although I would also be concerned about being able to find a converter that would fit.

Here are a couple of photos of the two pens side by side:

The cartridges and converters are truly tiny. My pen included an unused cartridge that I rehydrated and then cleaned out once I used it. I have to check on compatibility with the Chalana converter; I found those at Fahrney’s as late as 2022.

Wow!  Thanks for the side by side photos.  Those really are tiny compared to Vectors.... :o

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Today, I received not exactly an entire pen, but a nib. A 14K Tang Moon Schrödinger's Cat nib with a heart beat separating the tines instead of a simple line.

I have no idea how well it writes (let´s hope for the best) and the pen it is meant to be installed in doesn´t even exist yet. The idea is to build a pen myself next summer (under the guidance of a professional), using orange-red ebonite from around the 1930s/1940s with fordite for the end-caps and this nib mounted on an ebonite feed to top it off.

What a beautiful nib! Thanks for the explanation.

A few years ago, I bought the Retro 51 Harriet Tubman pen instead of the Goldspot x Retro 51 Fall Leaves collaboration. Since the Harriet Tubman pen was readily available, I knew I’d made a mistake, but it was too late. Not that I didn’t want the Tubman pen, I did. But I could have waited to buy it.

This year, it’s Opus 88 x Goldspot with the collaboration, and I decided I would not miss out this time. And appropriately, it arrived today which is the Autumnal Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere.

It’s the Opus 88 Mini in Fall Leaves. I already had the ink which is De Atramentis Autumn which should look great coming out of the pen. It’s possible the same artist designed the Retro 51 with leaves. Oh, that was an attractive pen. Sigh. But I have the Opus 88 Mini now, and am happy with it. It has the 1.4mm stub nib.

That is a very pretty pen @Misfit snd the ink pairing: perfect!

Hmmm... that means it's spring here. I should order something or ink something I already have.

Will work for pens...

@Misfit I really like the colors on the Retro 51 Fallen leaves, but that one came out a little before I got seriously into FPs.

Edit: I took a look and I really like the Opus 88 Baby Beluga. Reminds me a little of the Retro 51 Monterey Bay, which only came out in a roller ball.

They have a Cherry Blossom version. But it’s a US store exclusive. Cross has a Century II Cherry Blossom version with a lovely blue background.

Unfortunately, the pen hasn’t written for me yet. I rinsed the nib. Maybe I’ll have to soak it.

Edit: I just tried the pen, and it wrote, finally. Relief.

Yes indeed. That’s what spurred the impulse purchase.

Yeah, that Retro 51 Fall Leaves has that lovely purple background. I also like the Opus 88 Mini in Tropical Blossom because my Dad planted three hibiscus plants once. The tallest version with white flowers lasted the longest.

The Blue that came with it.  Do you know which Pilot ink it is?

I think it’s just regular Pilot/Namiki blue (if I recall correctly), which is an excellent ink.

This pen, plus two others, I received today. This is the TWSBI Vac 700 R in Iris with 1.1mm stub nib. I chose Birmingham Pens’ Einstein Relative Cadmium ink for it. It has iridescent trim, including the nib.

I got these yesterday (Friday).

large.IMG_1901.jpeg.8f5881358eadd1d02d4b38be589b1a88.jpeg

They are the TWSBI Vac 700 R in Iris, the TWSBI Eco in Espresso Bronze, and the Kaweco Frosted Sport in Pitaya.

I had returned a Pitaya when it was sent as a Skyline Pink. I gave my brother the option of Frosted Blueberry and Pitaya.
