I love it! It has the 1.1 stub nib and it's everything I want in a stub--smooth, juicy, and perfect for Van Dieman's Blue-Ringed Octopus.

Thank you so much for posting yours!

I love the unique designs and how relatively inexpensive the Retro 51 FPs are. There is one flaw with them. When you screw the cap back on, be gentle. The threads are some sort of plastic and I think I have damaged some of mine. That is the only flaw with these pens otherwise they are great. Plus if you ever have an issue Retro 51s customer service is superb.

When I was unscrewing the section to fill it, it was very squeaky. I put a little silicone grease on them--much better. I do wish that some of the designs that they put on rollerball pens were also available on FPs. There's been a couple in the past that I was sad to miss out on.

@Pen Ffynnon I know what you mean. I have many of those rollerball pens and wish I could also have a FP version.

I contacted Retro 51 about a conversion kit to convert rollerballs to fountain pens. They replied that they only had the fountain pen to rollerball converter kit at this time.

I figure the more who ask for a kit to convert rollerball pens to fountain pens the more likely they would consider making one.

I also have Retro 51 fountain pens that squeak when unscrewing.

@Misfit The fountain pen to roller ball converter is a fairly new product, maybe about a year. I will contact Retro 51 asking about a roller ball to fountain pen converter.

Pel and pal, sleeping off their jet lag.

(That's a small Eboya Kyouka and an M405, if you're wondering about scale. The ebonite is really hard to capture in a photo: the high polish gives it a depth, in person, that makes the subtle pattern of the material hard to see in a photo -- except in indirect, filtered daylight, which then makes it look flatter than IRL. Beautiful pen. And Michael Masuyama reduced the Pelikan's broad nib in the direction of a fine and ground it to a mild left oblique; I've only tested it briefly so far, but it seems like exactly what I wanted, and brings my Stresemann quest to a very happy conclusion.)

I found this video that talks about the plastic thread issue at about the 8:45 point,

Love the colors on the Last Frontier!! I'd love to see a pen in the teal-y color on there.

@Misfit and @Pen Ffynnon I would love a fountain pen version of Rescue Owl. It is one seriously cute pen!

Yes! And the Rickshaw pen sleeve for that one is so good. And supporting a good cause. I got their "Buzz" Honeybee Rescue FP because the NW Honey Bee Habitat Restoration is near and dear to my heart.

@boilermaker1975

Yeah, I've seen a number of Retro 51 pens that I would have definitely considered buying as a fountain pen, had they made an FP version.  Sigh....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thanks! I have seen one in the IM Writing Rituals collection that is a frosted teal, but not exactly like this one. The Urban come in teal, I noticed.

Squeaky wheels, that’s all I’ll say.

I’d like to convert my Space Race rollerballs to fountain pens. Or at least one of them at a time. If only.
