Well, hadn't really planned to buy any pens at B/W over the weekend (my budget was more for getting some repairs done), but someone had a Noodler's ebonite Konrad in Methesaleh Pine Cone Ripple and I just couldn't resist.  I have one but some have lost parts the last time I took that one apart for really thorough cleaning.  So I've now got another one and can use the original one (hopefully) as a parts pen.

Of course I ALSO had some pens go missing over the weekend.  In theory, at the hotel I was staying, their maintenance guy was supposed to take a look at the leaky faucet in the tub but if he went to my room while I was out getting dinner, he not only did NOT fix the plumbing, but may ALSO have had sticky fingers.  Because one of the zipper cases I thought I brought with me has gone walkabout -- including three pens that were high priority to be worked on.... Plus a spare Esterbrook nib unit, in case the nib and feed on the SJ that I just bought the previous weekend was toast, given the shiny black gunk on them (and to some extent on the section).

There was a post on the fountain pens subreddit about a found zippered case. The post is here -

Here's hoping your pens can come home.

Thanks!  I'd seen a post about it on another thread, but am not on Reddit.

So hopefully the person who posted about it on FPN can contact the person who found it.  I'm quite relieved that it turned up (hopefully with the stuff still in it) and also that the staff at the hotel I was staying at did NOT have sticky fingers after all -- I was already a little grumpy with them about putting me in a room where the spigot in the bathroom tub was running and the WiFi kept flaking out on me about every five minutes.  And while they moved me to a nicer room that was also closer to the elevators, it was a hassle moving all my stuff from the original room to the other one (SOOOOO glad I brought the collapsible wagon that we originally got for when we go camping).

Hopefully I’ll get a response to my private message to the finder on Wednesday. I’ll be sure to let you know. Did you post or get someone to post on Reddit? It was about the exact same thing you mentioned in one of the Baltimore Pen Show threads.

Early in my career I had a matched matte 25 FP/BP set AND stainless FP/BP set.  I had arrived.

No one in the U.S. Midwest told me it was an English school pen.  Ignorance = bliss indeed.

Apparently I’m a sucker for green stripes…

Oh, yes, those are BEAUTIFUL! All of the available colours in the modern stripe design, but the green one is very special. Very hard to capture the true colour in a picture though.

Well the poster contacted me and said that he and Martin Ferguson found the case at Martin's table.  And I gave him my # and Martin called me a little over an hour ago and confirmed that the three pens that I remembered being in that case were there (just not the spare Espied nib unit).  And he's going to see about getting the pens repaired and then sent back to me.

WHAT A RELIEF!

Of course I got some sort of stupee hangup call on the house phone while I was talking to him, so forgot to ask if the Burgundy Snorkel he'd worked on for me at the show turned up (realized it was missing shortly after leaving the show on Sunday -- and not that long after I'd paid for the repairs on it, at that.... :wallbash:

I was really not working on all cylinders over the weekend.  Hadn't slept well before driving down to the Baltimore area (mostly in snow and a bit of sleet); had to move rooms at the hotel I was staying at due to various issues.  Was pretty exhausted from having to walk all the way from the back parking lot to the hotel lobby because the back doors were all locked from the inside this year (don't remember that from prior shows) and then having to walk all the way back to the far end of the back hallway because that was the ONLY door to the ballroom that wasn't locked from the inside....  And then to have the case with the three pens in it (all being relatively recent acquisitions at that) go missing?  I was a complete wreck by the time I got home Sunday evening.  And had to do a bunch of laundry on Monday, AND get the trash and recycling out to the curb Monday night in case I overslept on Tuesday.  And am still not running on full steam even now....

I'm completely humbled on a regular basis of the kindness and generosity of the people on FPN....  I can't thank people enough!

It sounds like another Out of Towners  (mis)adventure, Ruth-you really do need to get some AirTags for pen cases, etc.

These can just be tossed (in the case of theft).

OTOH, it's such an avant-garde statement to have an AirTag dangling around, especially on a vintage pen :3

😛

If I am not mistaken, she would be the proud owner of 3 Pelikan M200 Café Crème pens and several others if she had AirTags on them... theft not being the problem.

If I'd had something like AirTags, I wouldn't have had to buy the second (let ALONE the third) M200 Café Crèmes to begin with....  :glare:
