I got this pen today

I don’t have any pictures, because it’s in pieces for repair, but I received a blue Eversharp Symphony with a gold cap today.  I don’t know what generation, but I’m guessing it’s not the original with the slipper cap. It’s from an estate of someone who restored it pretty well, but it needs a new sac.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 30 currently inked pens:

Sheaffer 100 Satin Blue M, Pelikan Moonstone/holographic mica

Parker T1, Dominant Industry Dominant Blue

MontBlanc 1441 F, Monteverde Brown Sugar

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

My Edison Elysian in Diamondcast Blue Macaw came in today and I'm impressed. I think I'm going to really like this pen. At first I thought the section looked like it might not be comfortable with the way it angles up, but it is. It feels great posted as well as unposted. While posted it sits nice in the web of the hand. I normally like thicker and heavier pen, but this design just works in a 14g pen. The material is much nicer than I had expected.

Interesting! That was the material I was looking for, but they didn't have any made in stock with it. I have a Newton pen in Earth Magic and it's one of my favorites. I am happy with the material I ended up with though.

Only in Germany, the data law, wouldn't let the new owners of Pelikan have the transfer list of customers...ie my B&M.

I ordered the Rose Gold trim, copper 200LE in Dec, with hopes of Christmas.

It came in yesterday. So my B&M had to jump through hoops to get in his orders.

EF in I only order that with the 'new' 200's double ball tipping. I do prefer the old teardrop....and like M.

It looks better in real life. The longitudinal imprint 'stripes' do the trick of giving it class. They are only slightly visible in this picture.fZaV1pf.jpg

I do like the rose gold trim. Such was called once Russian Gold, and was popular in the 1880's....could be later, but my book only does two years.

I'm still a bit leary of white furniture. I do have the Pastel Blue too.

Loaded it with Edelstein Topaz....ie to me a blue leaning turquoise. One of my favorites that I'd not used in years.

I had been going to ink it with  Kon-Piki, until looking for inks that go well with EF I ran into a Topaz vs Kon-Piki review, and Topaz shaded better.

I like shading inks best.

Nothing exciting, old, or collectible--2 Lamy Safaris, one in Cherry Blossom (fine), one in Violet Blackberry (medium). I like them for trying out new-to-me inks and Cherry Blossom reminds me that spring is finally on its way.

Here are two out of ten or so new pens that arrived in the past couple of days:

These pens are made by Renee Meeks (Scriptorium Pens).  Wood shells on Ebonite, section is ebonite. More photos at Renee's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/C-OARmoPt5h/

I like the balance style of pens most, so all are made with this shape.

I don't like black sections so we experimented with a few other colors/designs for the grip sections - see the photos at the link above.

left: Olive Wood (Palestine, Extreme Figure)            & SEM Ebonite Sand 06

middle: Mahogany Wood (Honduras)                       & SEM Ebonite Brown 04/08
right: Ancient Kauri Wood (New Zealand)                & SEM Ebonite Honey 10/8

— Ancient Kauri is excavated from fields in New Zealand. While Kauri still grows there these Ancient logs buried for Millennia beneath the surface have been radio carbon dated back to a minimum of 30,000 to 50,000 years. It should be noted that this is the maximum age range of radio carbon dating so it is assumed that much of the wood is actually quite a bit older.

All pens are made for Bock #8 14k EF nibs, bought fortunately before the gold price exploded. Still, they were expensive enough.

I especially like the understated effect of the grey-green with black nib and trim of the Profuture pen. Cool pairing with the Sailor ink too. 💚

Will work for pens...

Today's acquisition -- a mackerel blue Esterbrook SJ.  Sorry about the poor quality of the image -- it's a screen shot from the enlarged photo in the estate sale listing (no, I didn't get the harmonica as well , just the pen).  And of course when I tried to enlarge the image to get a better look, that just made the image even more grainy.... :glare:

Hard to tell what the nib is on it (I think it's a 1555 Gregg nib but am not 100% certain), because it's got some sort of black paint or ink all over the nib that did not budge when I took a damp paper towel to it before buying it....  OTOH, the estate sale people dropped the price from $15 US to $10 -- and if worst comes to worst, I'll just chuck that nib because I've got some spare nib units, still in their boxes.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

They do. I have 6 wooden pens from her, I also have pens made from Amboyna, Snakewood and Mexican Kingwood.

🤔 I shall do a family photo of my "Scriptorium Pens" - done https://www.instagram.com/p/DGuk1aiSYPO/

Schon DSGN in 3D Pink (it looks black and copper to me and I like it). 1.1 stub nib.

IMG_0066.jpg

I need to give it a rinse before I try it, but...surprisingly light for its size. Personally, I like a little more heft, but not a deal-breaker at all. Very, very comfy in the hand. It's a stub, so big ol' nib and it'll be fun to try out some of the new inks I have coming. 😍
