I got this pen today

Three Kaweco Sports - Brass, Apricot Pearl, AL Ruby Red. Up until a week ago I hadn’t paid much attention to the Kaweco Sport I already owned (plastic body) but found that the nib suits me very well, so I collected a few more.

I bought the Apricot Pearl colour specifically for my Herbin Corail des Tropiques ink, a current favourite.

@finzi you’ll be amazed at the patina the Brass Sport gets. Here is mine, that I got October 2023.

Wow. Olive green 😄

Maybe that's what mine will look like when I finally find it. Some pens love playing hide and seek . . .

That red looks gorgeous, especially next to the other two. I too like Herbin's coral pink ink, but I'm having a hard time finding pens that can cope with it. So far the best results have been with very wet writers.

I received this little PLUS Stationery Japan fine nibbed pen from the 1980s (I think). It’s adorably serious. Silver and snakeskin (or maybe lizard, I don’t remember). I recall someone on here (but can’t recall who) mentioning that they were likely made by Sailor while researching this model.

It does have a bit of tarnish, and I need to replace my Sunshine cloth.

I have found that my wet writers with ebonite feeds really bring out the best of Herbin inks. With a pink ink I prefer to use a pen without a sac.

I am not at all an expert, but I think the sharp edges of an italic can be rounded a bit to be more stub like. I know one can become the other, but I don’t know the “order of operations,” so to speak. Kirk Speer at Pen Realm is really good about answering nib grinding questions, and the answer may already be on the Pen Realm FAQ. I would recommend checking out the website and emailng if you have questions. He’s done most of my nib work, and I can’t recommend him enough.

Thanks, Penguincollector, for the info regarding Pen Realm. As you suggested, I emailed the site. I am waiting for a reply and I will share it.

Love it! I have a Liliput in brass which hasn’t been used much so, despite owning it for about 7 years, it has barely changed.

I ordered the Sport Ebonit today. 🥰

Yes, I’ve noticed that they tend to run a little dry. Herbin’s Rouge Opera was the first ink I ever bought. It was also the only one I owned for a couple of years. The next one was R&K Scabiosa.

This week really took a turn for the better. Today, a black chased hard rubber Parker Lucky Curve, said to be circa 1925 (and it looks like the No. 25 in the 1925 catalogue: same length as a Duofold Junior but more slender; no cap band; simple straight-line chasing; fine Lucky Curve No. 2 nib with a small "B" under the 2). Understated elegance! (Doesn't photograph well at night, though.)

Now there is only one more on its way to me... well, if "on its way" means "en route," not "in a repair or nib grinding or manufacturing queue."

Didn't get a chance to catch up on FPN yesterday, but the Dark Dusk Safari SE arrived yesterday afternoon.  Not enough time to flush it out and get it dry before going to a pen club meeting, but at least I was able to show it off (even nicer looking than the promo photos suggested).

Meant to ink it up today, after flushing it out when I got home last night, but this particular Friday was, um, odd (in some respects very good, but in others -- some in relation to the good stuff at that --very stressful.

Now trying to decide what to feed it for its inaugural fill, which might not actually happen until tomorrow....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

That pen looks very cool. I’ve pondered it, but wasn’t sure about paying that much for it.

Just got my Onoto Scholar Ceramic Racing Green FP. I was impressed, see photo, of how it was wrapped. A gorgeous substantial pen. Now I need a British Racing Green car to match!

More pens would be cheaper. But life is short, so let us know when you can give us a ride in that car.

Hey, you'd both be welcome for a ride in my wheels if it was a bit more roomy:

That depends quite a lot on the driver.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Looks awesome (classic, austere even, but with a fresh look compared to most of today's offerings)! Enjoy in good health ❤️

I too have been longing for an Onoto Magna, but they're nigh impossible to get in the EU without passing through post-Brexit Customs bureaucracy and other shenanigans. I find them quite overpriced for what they are already as it is.

Bespoke pens (alias Conway Stewart) OTOH, have setup a distributor in my country, and others in the EU (albeit admittedly selection is minimal compared to the full-fledged catalogue).
