Two Sheaffer's mentioned yesterday.

A dark blue 440 with a beautifully extra fine nib. The sack in the converter crumbled...so I used an empty cartridge refilled with Diamine Twilight. 💙

And a stainless steel No Nonsense that arrived as a ballpoint, but is now a fine italic fountain pen.

Nice! A Sheaffer No Nonsense was my first fountain pen back in the 80s. I'll always have  soft spot for them.

I got two today. One is a heavy pen.  It’s a Jinhao 999 dragon pen. The other is very light. It’s a Kaweco Sport Skyline in Concrete Gray, and came with a clip. I might post a photo later. I’ll use the Jinhao 999 pen on the 10th, when the Chinese New Year  year of the Dragon starts. I was born in the year of the Dragon.

The Jinhao 999 weighs 107g or 3.75 oz. The Kaweco Sport weighs 13g or 1/2 oz.

Congratulations to both of you new pens. I find myself using the Jinhao many times. I enjoy writing with it. 😁

I can imagine long 15 page writing sessions with the Jinhao...lol

Great looking pen.

n+1

Thank you @RedPie it’s interesting they made the cap posting option. Too too heavy for me. I got to thinking if you threw that pen at a bad person, like an attacker, it could hurt a lot.

@Baka1969 I’m pretending you meant the Kaweco. But I get the joke. That would be a challenge.

You are right about that. 😄

I got used to the weight pretty quick and like it. Posted and all!

There are certain Japanese hand held protection tools that are illegal**, that large sturdy pen is legal....you just need to take a few lessons.

I received a TWSBI Eco in Cement Grey that was made in China shipped from AliExpress. It looks to be the real deal. I’ve read that TWSBI has a factory in China, and makes exclusives for the Chinese market. Of course the Cement Grey was available several years ago in the US. I let it get away.

Thankyou for confirming that. There's a colour I missed and now would like. Thankyou. And not.

Do you like the Cement Grey? I have mine inked with Noodler's Lexington Grey, it was my first not-black ink and still a favourite.

Will work for pens...

I do. I like gray inks, and gray pens. I like lots of colors. I’m going to get my bottle of Diamine grey for mine. I just swapped nibs to a Nemosine 1.1mm stub nib.

@AmandaW I got my Cement Grey from the Lusfer store on AliExpress. Sending you a PM.

Edit: Tomorrow I’ll try taking a photo of the Cement Grey in the sunlight, and post it here to see if you, AmandaW, think it looks like yours.

I inked the new Eco, and it’s writing. Hurray. The nib and feed slipped out easily. The Nemosine 1.1mm nib and the feed took some effort to push down far enough. I was comparing it to another Eco I swapped with a Nemosine nib.

The Goldspot/Kaweco collaboration arrived today. It’s an AL Sport called Mercury orange, described as burnt orange. I got the BB nib. Even though Goldspot describes it as the Roman messenger god, I’m thinking of it as the planet Mercury.

The ink from @LizEF’s review today would match this pen well, I think. It’s a very nice color choice, reminds me of saffron rice.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 30 currently inked pens:

Parker Duofold Centennial IM, RO Rose Gold Antiqua

Parker Duofold Lady needlepoint, MB Cool Grey

MontBlanc 1441 F, Monteverde Brown Sugar

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

I was expecting this next week, and a different pen today, but I’m happy it’s here! IM Monochrome Blue.large.IMG_0724.jpeg.48174980bd78d5d7124e6a2f5f807736.jpeg

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
