Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Kobe #38 Kitano-zaka Night Blue

This is review #144 in my series.  Here's the YouTube video:

Leave a comment with what sort of enchantments you think Quin and Makhabesh should choose! ;)

Post-recording notes: Cleaning was quick and easy.  The ink is considerably darker than the scan shows. The same is true for the zoom. Both show more shading than is visible to the naked eye. The screen capture is very close. I find the ink interesting when I examine it up close - it leans slightly green - but it's too dark to see the interesting stuff with the naked eye from a normal distance.  This may be an ink that does better in a large, dry-ish nib.

Errata: "controling" should be "controlling"

And here is a screen of the final result, for those not interested in the video:

I want them all, too!

I have so many inks of this general nature!  Kobe 40-something and 30-something, Sailor blue and blue black, the Diamine Denim.  And on and on.  This one looks good, and thanks for the review.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

:) Yeah, it's not really that unique.  Being a Sailor, it's a pleasure to use, but the color itself isn't unique enough for me.  You're very welcome!

A very pretty dark blue! Of course, I'm a sucker for just about any blue ink... but this is one that I don't have yet. I'll have to keep my eye out. Thanks 🙂

Thank you as ever @LizEF :)

I love Kobe's ink range. They always seem to just deliver in terms of performance. I don't have this one - the colour's not interesting enough to justify the enormous premium we have to pay to get them here in the UK, but if I could, I would ;)

Yeah, they have some great colors, but they do come at a pretty high price.

Great job, Liz

This looks like a very handsome ink, which I probably have several variations.

Geometrix and Spider pendant ( I wonder where that came from :D )

:D  Feel free to vote on how it should be enchanted - I have one more review to record before I get to the scene where we select enchantments.

@LizEF, thank you for this review and for the story part!

I can only repeat how much I love these almost black ink colors. There is only one statement to explain: I want them all!

😄

One life!

  • 3 months later...

Here's the line width measurement. The line is one of those used for dry time.  Magnification is 100x.  The grid is 100x100µm.  The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each.  The line width for this ink is roughly 300µm.
