Colorado Pen Company

Colorado Pen company was the first pen company I was introduced to after I started to use fountain pens, many years ago. My daughter is moving to Colorado Springs for college and will be going for Army ROTC. She and I do an annual trip into manhattan to visit the Lamy store and the Fountain Pen Hospital.

Does Colorado Pen Company have a physical storefront? I've searched their site and these forums but I haven't found any photos or threads about Colorado Pen Company as a physical store versus online-only retailer. Does anyone have any insight?

Thank you!

I do not know the status of Colorado Pen Co, but can recommend Meininger’s (the Denver location) for an excellent selection of fountain pens, inks, and paper.

Colorado Pen Company used to have physical storefronts in higher end shopping malls, this is going back 20 to 25 years ago or longer. Some of them became Paradise Pen Company, others shut down. As far as I know, they are now on-line only.

Thank you goodpens and markofp! Great info. I found a Meininger's in both Denver and Colorado Springs. Although they are art stores, it looks like they have more than the basics for fountain pen ink, paper, converters, etc. I have not even read/heard of that store. Thank you so much for the information!!!

I believe you are thinking about Colorado Baggage Company that had Paradise Pens as an offshoot. Colorado Pens is a different company altogether, that has had a predominately online presence since its' beginning.

It might also be worth checking out Guiry's, they are mostly a painting (as in house paints) company, but many of their stores sell a good selection of art supplies, and their Colorado Blvd location in Denver used to have a large fountain pen focus, having some pen brands visit for mini pen shows, a number of years ago, and before the Colorado Pen Show existed.

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA

There was unquestionably a brick-and-mortar retail entity called Colorado Pen Company from about the mid 1980s to about 2000 or so, I was a frequent customer. There were several near me in high-end shopping malls here in New Jersey, in Short Hills, Bridgewater and Paramus. They declared bankruptcy about 2000. Peter Paradise, the owner of Colorado Baggage, had a minority interest in the company and made a play for some of the stores, changing the name to Paradise Pen. Montblanc picked up a few others and made them boutiques. I suspect that the current coloradopen.com is a separate entity altogether.

The Denver store specifically has a large FP department (recently built out by a FP enthusiast/staffer, Patty), but I don’t believe Colorado Springs has built out the department similarly.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste. Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet. Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away.... I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link.... Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
