@Sampanel Thank you very much for such detailed photos of this pen, great photographic skills! Congratulations on your new acquisition. May you enjoy many years writing with the MB Ferrari pen, a celebration of this great Italian icon. I love the gorgeous Ferrari red 😍!

Lovely set of photos and thanks for sharing.

That's it! All pictures so far did not look "right", maybe even like a cheap theme-pen. Until yours. Lately most Montblancs look much better in real life or independent photography compared to Montblanc's own marketing images.

Now I'm really curious to try this pen.

Thank you for sharing such great photography.

Also I look forward to trying the corresponding ink.

Cheers

Michael

@Sampanel Thanks for sharing the fabulous photos.  They've made me very happy that I might have taken advantage of an excellent FPD discount offer to order this pen 😄.  With OB nib so it will probably be another wait, although I hope not for too long.

I saw the Enzo pen on display at my local MB Boutique and the manager asked me if I want to handle it but I declined. She said they were only allocated 3 pens but I again said that I’m not interested. After seeing these photos, I may have to actually look at it carefully and handle it. Thanks for the great photos.

cheers

They say that Enzo Ferrari wrote in purple ink. Maybe so. But Tolstoy wrote in purple ink, and yet the Tolstoy ink was blue....

Yep, Enzo Ferrari wrote in purple ink, this is an established fact ->link

Interesting! And certainly something that makes me hold the man in even higher regard. I'm sure I'm not alone on this forum in having a deep sense of respect for those who are conscious and deliberate in their writings, especially in regard to fountain pens and ink combinations.

It is absolutely hilarious that we have “Enzo Ferrari Purple” ink. I can just imagine how the meeting went:

- What colour is Enzo Ferrari associated with?

- Scarlet red, obviously. All of his racing cars were scarlet red, from the Alfa Romeo days through the Ferrari years. It is his colour - the Ferrari name is famous worldwide for scarlet red.

- But we used the scarlet red ink for James Dean and Sherlock Holmes already. Sherlock Holmes was even this year. Customers are bound to notice it’s the same ink every time if we use it again.

- Ok, well what other colours do we think Enzo Ferrari had heard of?

- Erm…purple? He probably knew what purple is, and we haven’t done that one since The Beatles, who had also heard of purple, probably. And we’ve got loads left because it didn’t really sell.

- Perfect! Enzo Ferrari Purple it is.

Actually, Mr. Ferrari is well known to have used purple ink in his own correspondence (I believe that's been mentioned elsewhere in this thread; certainly it has been on this site). The only reason his factory racing cars were red is because red is/was the national racing colour for Italy (it doesn't take much effort to find customer teams racing Ferraris in basically every colour of the rainbow - even before sponsorships dictated liveries). Therefore, a commemorative ink would naturally be purple, rather than red.

You learn something everyday, right? :)

Wheeler's Luxury just sent me an advert on the Enzo edition pen. I don't know if it's just the picture of the hand model, but that pen looks proportionally very small in the picture.

Does anyone have better on hand pictures?

listed specification: Dimensions: 147.5 x 17.5 mm.

I just got mine yesterday.  It's the size of a 146.

Ordered mine with the ink directly from Montblanc's online shop. Both pen and ink are currently shipped from Italy (?!) to Germany.

Made by Ferrari? 😅🧐

Lovely pen for the memorabilia showcase. The engine casing is a nice touch.

Release it to the Ferrari Owner's Club, instant sellout.

IMO, if you can't afford the car why bother with the trinkets. The same applies to Aston Martin, RR, Bentley etc.

IIRC, Tibaldi was commissioned by Bentley for their pens.

I have always found it odd when people collect memorabilia of a brand, without actually owning the product the brand is known for.  ;)

Owning the Moon Lander might be a bit difficult.  I think I will settle for my MB SE JFK.

I fully expected ferrari's ink to be either Purple, or yellow, or red.

Enzo quite famously used purple ink, it was part of his "signature" if you will.

Had MB used any other color from purple, even the ones i mentioned (modena yellow or rosso corsa) and it would have been dissapointing.

Got the F nib SE edition ( F for Ferrari 😀 ) and the M nib LE 1898 edition unexpectedly today.

I prefer red pens recently and the Ferrari is the very best choice. At first I was not interested in LE 1898 because of the silver white color. However it’s one of the kind design, low profile yet passionate.

I‘ve noticed the clip on mine is very, very tight (regular SE)!

I‘m afraid to clip it to my shirt‘s pocket. It barely clips to a sheet of paper.

Does anybody notice this with theirs as well?

Cheers
