4 colored pens, does this thing exist?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about another pen companion, and realized I've never seen 4-color pens outside the red-blue-black-green ones.

I'll like to take notes without inking 4 separate pens, and these overlap with the fountain pen's current color, so hard pass. Funky inks are not the best option at the moment.

Is there such a thing out there? Maybe bright pastels? Different cartridges or refills?

Before a month wait from Aliexpress, I'd like to hear users' opinions in this place.

You mean this kind of thing (I always have one near).....  BIC 4-Colour Multipen Fluo | Cult Pens

BIC only provides blue and black refills (apparently).  As BIC has an array of shiny and sparkly and "fun" colours, you might be able to get custom-made refills from them?

Yup, I saw that one, the thing I'm after should not have blue-green-red-black ink. There's a pastel line, purple-pink-light green or something, never seen one offline.

Felt pens should be easy to carry in any color, but they bleed and smudge like an ugly Sharpie on nearly every paper they touch. Pilot Parallel pens are good, but they take only a color per unit.

I see you are on top of it. Wanted to make sure what you meant, on here invoking the name of BIC may bring a firestorm  :D

Found it odd that BIC wouldn't sell red and green refills, I guess only made for each plastic pen produced?

Nice to talk about this useful tool in my life.

With scissors and razor blades I have adapted refills to MAKE-IT-FIT for many projects, sometimes going a bit too far...

Most multicolour pens use D1 refills. You may visit cult pens or any other suppliers website to see what ink colors are offered in D1. Then you can select the pen you like. Once the pen and refills have arrived you replace the stock refills with the coloured ones you purchased. HTH.

If no pen exists, time to some DIY then. JetPens carries Monteverde refills in 4 extra colors, worst case scenario BIC carries odd ballpoint colors.

There should be several recipes on other threads for mixing and matching refills and pen barrels.

Almost nothing is impossible....

I thought the second message was a joke, and now I'm staring at a new abbyss.

It seems that the easiest path is getting BIC ballpoints in pastel, Carrefour should carry them and refills too, so next trip for groceries doubles as the next pen quest :ninja: no, really, didn't know about this thing.

Thanks sansenri!  I was just about to mention the 10 color pens (I had one when I was a kid, which I got for Christmas along with one of those 5 year diaries.  Didn't know they were still being made.

But of course they're also ballpoints....

@Ethelios -- I have a friend who is a tech writer for an engineering firm in the Pacific Northwest.  She uses her fountain pens at work (five Levenger pens, different colors, and color-matches the ink).  She has a bad finger and fountain pens are just more comfortable for her to use than ballpoints.  The guys she works with thought it was "cute" that she'd be switching pens out for different notes at meetings -- until they realized that there was "method to her madness" and was using the different color inks to keep track of who was supposed to be working on what part of the project.  Then (being engineers B)) they said "OH!  We see what you're doing!  We understand now!"

:D well, tough to do it with fountain pens!... (especially ten!)

I had one of these as a kid too, they are still being made, yes.

It does fit the multicolour and "besides red, blue, green, black" thing though...

Yes, it does.  And I really liked mine.  But of course I think I was seven at the time.  Also, some of the colors didn't write very well (I remember yellow in particular being problematic..).

First time seeing this, the stationery rabbit hole has no limits. Noting the Paper Mate option, looks sleek. Got some BICs in pastels, they had a sticker (now peeled) and now I can glue them together till they dry. Mission acomplished?

It's nice to hear they were cool chilhood pens, sounds like these gel ones that came in rainbow colors, some used to write, some would die on day one.

One is too old for this pen between the ages of 8 and 50, just like going to the zoo.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
