Disassembly and assembly of the Parker Sonnet cap using a self-tapping screw

I`d like to share how to disassemble the Parker Sonnet cap, and then assemble it using a self-tapping screw.
Found experience of disassembly, consists in drilling out a rivet, selecting a screw with a nut instead of it, fitting, gluing a black plug.
But, having seen a lot of "Sonnets", every time I thought - could it be possible to solve the problem somehow easier?
Here's the algorithm.
1. With a 5mm drill, drill a rivet from the inside, but very carefully, about 2mm deep.
2. Disassemble the cap, we have about 4mm of rivet left.
3. With a 1mm drill go through the rest of the riveting, and the black plug is pushed out (its pin diameter 1mm).
4. Then we need self-tapping screw with a length of about 3.5-4 mm and a diameter 2 mm/ to assemble the cap from the inside. Drill a hole for it in the rivet with a diameter of 1.5 mm, but not to the end, so that a fragment with a diameter of 1 mm remains for the pin of the black plug.
5. If everything is done accurately, the self-tapping screw will cut a thread in the drilled brass rivet and pull the cap together.
6. Finally, cut off the leg of the black plug a little and glue it in place.

Hi! Good work there! Very skillful.
I have a Sonnet Flighter with the top of the cap askew. In the photo hopefully you can see the clip is bowed in towards the barrel rather than out like my other Sonnets. Also the endcap is not centered on the barrel and there is a gap near the clip. I just gently and carefully hammered it and got it closer to normal. Then I realized the clip's bend was probably keeping it sprung.

I don't have the tools or skill to do what you did. Perhaps the correct size extended socket wrench would take the cap and clip off the barrel. Then I could try to bend the clip into place and reset it. What do you think?IMG_0094.thumb.jpeg.75486a18c9610d0d9184a3eedeca393d.jpeg
I'm guessing the nut inside is 5mm? Or 6mm?

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
