Standardgraph Coffee Brown (Kaffeebraun)

This is the fifth in my series of reviews of Standardgraph inks. I have previously reviews Cypress Green (which everyone hates), Elder Blue (which I love, even though it's almost identical to Waterman Violet), Orange and Mallow Red

The only one from my collection left to do is Sky Blue, which I might get a while to getting round to (it isn't in any of my pens currently)

I'd underrated this ink for so long because it was in a pen that just doesn't work for me (I'm a left-handed overwriter and it is a nib that just won't be "pushed"). Dipping it in an emergency pen let it shine. It's not a bad ink, though fans of shading will be disappointed.

It seems to have a moderate amount of water resistance. I literally ran that corner of the page under the tap for several seconds. The ink spread, but the lines are still distinct. It dries quickly on absorbent copy paper, less so on smoother papers found in various notebook brands.

This ink looks nice on cream or buff paper, though inks more in the sepia range look even better.

On reflection, it doesn't quite look the same colour as a good coffee. It's a bit more yellow than that. It is a few shades darker than Herbin Amber de Birmanie, but in the same hue space.

Apologies for the scruffy handwriting. I did this one in a bit of a hurry.

Thanks for the review...

This seems like a good for editing, correcting. Sort of an accent ink :)

Interesting color.  Seems like a shade of brown we don't see often.  Can't decide whether I like it. :)  Thanks for the review! Looking forward to Sky Blue, whenever you get to it.

Thanks for a nice review :)

Like Liz, I'm a bit on the fence about the colour, but it is interesting. I think I'd call it more caramel than coffee, and as such I think I lean towards liking it.

My first thought was Robert Oster Caffe Crema, but it's not that similar.  It appears to be one of those inks you have to try to figure out if you like it.

Thanks for the nice review and your clear and calm subjectiveness. I don't like it because it doesn't look like coffee, although I don't like coffee either. R&K's Kaffee Kantate comes closer IMO.
