Parker Quink Green cartridges: any alternative?

Recommended Posts

As far as I remember, last time I used Parker Quink Green Cartridges back in 2001-2002…

Recently I have decided to use that ink again occasionally and found those inks were discontinued by Parker/Newell much time ago :(

On some FPN thread I have found positive opinion on Levenger Cartridges Forest Green (though they are smaller in ink capacity than Parker's long ones…).

I have tried to buy Levenger cartridges but found out they were not available in the UK :(

Amazon UK states “Currently Unavailable”.

All offers on eBay are from the US sellers only.

So, I understand the only workable option to buy Levenger inks is to order directly on the company's website from the US and have them shipped to the UK, correct?

Alternatively, I am now considering to get back to bottled ink, but found Parker Quink Green was no longer available in bottles either…

However, I have found Waterman Harmonious Green but there is a question: how green is it? Is it similar to Parker Quink Green in quality and colour?

I actually need a nice very “green” green :) without any blue-ish or teal-ish shades…

Darker green would be fine, too.

Any workable recommendations are much welcomed.

Thanks in advance to everyone who responds! :)

Looking at the few reviews of Parker Green, they look almost blue green.

With the post being what it is I recommend you buying from UK based stores. Otherwise you risk waiting months until your package arrives.

However, if you want a true green why don't buy a bunch of samples from Purepens/cultpens and see for yourself.

However, if you really like Parker Green I found a bottle on ebay.....

Are those cartridges even compatible with the pen in question? I was under the impression Parker, like Sheaffer, cartridges are proprietary -- and international standard cartridges likely won't fit...

Thank you, Yazeh.

Almost 20 years ago Parker's Green Quink was really green without any blue/blue-ish shades...

Yes, I will try to find something from local online shops.

Yes, Parker cartridges are proprietary and not compatible with pens of other manufacturers.

However, according to the information from some sources and FPN:

1) Aurora cartridges are compatible with Parker pens (as Aurora adopted Parker's format).

2) Levenger long cartridges can be used in Parkers as well.

Moreover, much time ago someone on FPN also mentioned that Lamy cartridges may fit Parkers, too... but I have to check this option myself...

Montblanc Irish Green comes to mind as a “green” green that’s similar to (my memory of) the Parker cartridges I last used ~5 years ago.

Monteverde Hope Green is slightly brighter, but a great “green” green—not too blue or teal or yellow.

Thank you, Goodpens.

I will look at them and try to try :)

I have also found some opinions that Diamine Sherwood Green and Leonardo Green are both "green" green without blue or teal.

Much cheaper and a slight tad better is R&K Verdugo. @ E-8.50 the last time I looked vs E 19 for the jumped up price of Irish Green, that had been E16. When I luckily bought it.

A while back I did a test of these three shading inks,  R&G Verdugo, MB Irish Green and the discontinued 4001 Brilliant Green***.

Verdugo (50ml) finished a nose in front of Irish  (60ml) (some other poster had it reversed but R&K is still priced to go) Pelikan Brilliant Green finished a neck back. (30ml for @ E 4.00)

***So, so many posters wanted a dull dark non-shading green, so got it with the new dark green Pelikan.

Having decided that R&K was my go to green-green shading ink the discontinuation of the Brilliant Green didn't kill me. Still have a bottle of it anyway.

I don't know if R&K comes in cartridges, but suggest you needle fill if you don't have a converter or a piston pen.

Who needed Green:unsure:...I was in the middle of chasing purple, having 8, when I found a half empty bottle for sale of 4001 Brilliant Green for dirt cheap. I tried it, WoW...and it was brilliant and Shaded.

Within that year alone, I bought 14 green or greenish inks. Now have 19.

Never got back to purple.

If I didn't know better, I would say spell check is doing some unwarranted corrections: R & K Verdura?

Verdura is close enough to Verdugo when both come up with little red lines under them.

Grün would be so much easier,

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
