Efnir: Noodler's Blue Ghost

guess it would be great for someone trying to keep their diary secret

Then they'd probably want to overlay the invisible text with 'red herring' visible text as a disguise, too.

256-bit Twofish encryption for the win, if someone really wants their diary entries not to be readable by others!

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

My microscope pictures of Noodler's Blue Ghost were too exciting not to share immediately...

Line width (~270µm; dig those colors):

(That image was a royal pain to capture!)

It really is invisible:

(Exact same spot, just without the UV light.)

For many reasons, I think Blue Ghost is cool. Good job capturing the image!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

On a more serious note, the esteemed amberleadavis uses it often to render water loving inks, water repellant..... I was planning at what time to mix it with Apache Sunset....

Thank you for the shout out.  Yes, I do use it to mix and it is part of one of my favorite orange inks.

That would be one eye-searing Sunset! :yikes: I imagine the other ink will still wash away with water, though. It would be very interesting if Blue Ghost actually made the other dye bond to paper, though.

I used it with reds and oranges - while some of the red or orange did wash away, mostly the ink became water resistant.

I suspect the latter - only Blue Ghost remains.

Nice!  Thanks for the confirmation of how this behaves. :)

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
