I was extremely lucky this weekend... bought a big collection and one of the pens was the incredible Namiki Emperor "holy clouds" - only around 3 pieces were ever made.

Production tolerances with Namiki are minimal, hence differences in nib performance are minimal too. I have three Yukari Royales with a M nib and I concur to my own statement (hehe). In other words, there are plenty writing examples and experiences around here and/or on youtube. Happy hunting!

Thank you for clarifying. For a moment I thought it may have been a special order Namiki. And my next question would have been: how does one go about organising that!

Here is my Pilot Namiki Tiger pen, signed by the artist Masaru Hayashi. It is one of the first series zodiac pens from the late nineties, made from ebonite and decorated with taka-maki-e and jim-maki-e and these were branded Pilot in Japan. The series was discontinued around 2007 and followed up with a Namiki branded similar second series zodiac pens, made with metallic barrels. It has an 18K M nib and I have not yet inked/written with it, but hope to do that soon, once I have stopped admiring it.
