I just bought a bottle of Diamine Gold Star. I’m on my last fill of Edelstein Golden Beryl (which I can’t find without buying the set), and Mountain of Ink said this was closest.

That Edelstein Golden Beryl is a great ink. I hope the Diamine Gold Star is a good substitute. (I already bought the set, so that isn't even an option for me. It's a nice little pen, if you're on the fence) I think the new Edelstein Golden Lapis for 2024 is going to be in stores in the next week or so. I'm really looking forward to Pelikan's shimmer ink in aqua and gold.

I finally inked up an impulse buy of god knows when: Levenger's Empyrean. It's kind of a teal dark blue, but is feathering even in an EF nib on fountain pen friendly paper. I was hoping for a dark violet blue from the picture on their site. Probably an incentive to research my ink purchases a little more carefully in the future. I hope the bottle of True Teal I bought with it performs a bit better. Levenger was one of my to go brands when started collecting decades ago, but their inks don't make it into my rotation very often anymore. There really are some amazing inks being produced today that just write so much better. They do sell some great leather goods and very pretty pens. I think most of my wooden pen chests are from them as well. At least the ink bottles are nice.

Well, last night I put in an order to Vanness, (mostly for more bottles of Namiki Black so my husband takes longer to go through his stash) but also a bottle of the Lamy Pink Cliffs LE; and to round out the order to hit the threshold for free shipping, a sample of Diamine Green Edition One More Sleep -- which I think was from last year's (?) Inkvent Calendar, or maybe the year before's: saw the swab and sort of said "ooooh", because "purple" B) (the only one of the Inkvent series I have is Blue Edition Gingerbread -- mostly so I could get the cool little bottle with the legs).

I pre-ordered two bottles of Edelstein Lapis Gold from Cult. I also finally ordered an EF M400 nib a to replace the M on my red-stripe; I wish I had done so a few years back when they were $105, now they're going for $145. :( At least, I'll finally get to use it. Of course, the nib will ship with the ink, so sometime next month.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I’m thinking about looking into the Golden Beryl set in May (hopefully the store I saw it in doesn’t sell out by then), but I’m waiting to see what the Golden Lapis pen looks like. I will probably order one of the sets and definitely a bottle of the Lapis.

I was looking at eBay for something else. Then I searched for Levenger items. There was a box of six older Levenger inks that cost $8.30 each (including tax) which is very good price. The colors are Pinkly, Always Greener, Skies of Blue, Smokey, Fireball, and Blue Bahama.

I have the Pinkly fountain pen, and I’ve wanted Blue Bahama.  It’s still part of the ink lineup, but costs $25.50 now.

The seller had some negative feedback. Overall the seller has 95% positive. Shipping is free, so I hope the ink arrives with no broken bottles. The inks come in a box, so that should help.  Or rather, each ink comes in a box, and all six ink boxes have a special box they go in.

Still on a Chinese ink kick, today I received 2 bottles of a tropical fish themed set of gold shimmer ink. I bought an angler fish and a flat looking pixel fish. Both are tealish/bluish. I’ve only swatched one so far. They were really inexpensive, like $5 something, and shipping was free, packaging was very secure. They look similar in the bottle, but the angler fish one is a bit greener.large.IMG_0862.jpeg.8d64260d02287d1e152de36f1b39880e.jpeglarge.IMG_0864.jpeg.ee1fa77c60e041f46f8350a036dc3cbd.jpeglarge.IMG_0863.jpeg.d598cca478051647581020c58ef08b70.jpeg

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for their safe arrival. Blue Bahama is a lovely ink! I added True Teal to my collection awhile back (also an eBay deal) and am really enjoying it.

Thanks for the reminder that I need to write with the new Gold Star and see how it compares with the Golden Beryl.  It looked really close on Mountain of Ink. The set is on a list of pens and inks that I want for my birthday, but it keeps getting pushed back by harder to find vintage pens. It’s in late May, so I’m waiting to see what is available closer to the day.

Do you know when the Golden Lapis will be available for purchase? I thought it was April.

The other five seem to be full. My True Writer Pinkly still has a fill of Iroshizuku Yama Budo, and must wait for its namesake ink. Pity.

Another fan of Blue Bahama.  I also have Cobalt Blue, Amethyst, Forest Green. On the second bottle of Amethyst, Forest Green and Amethyst. Recently finished the last of my second bottle of Pomegranate. (long discontinued)

A ridiculous number of Birmingham pen company sale ink in a variety of colors. Pinks, greens, purples, and yellows.

I just ordered a bottle from Cult Pens as it seems pretty tough to find here in the US still. I impulse added a bottle of Lamy Dark Lilac, and Wearingful’s Dracula and Frankenstein to justify the $15 shipping fee. Definitely not a practical purchase, but a deal compared to a bottle of Pelikan Edelstein Amethyst I just received from eBay.

Fingers crossed that Pelikan releases a Golden Lapis matching pen soon!

Those are older boxes. The current ones are green and gold with a square label on top in a color close to what is in the bottle.

@Runnin_Ute I’m not surprised to read that. The ink boxes are older too, as are the inks. I couldn’t resist buying the set because I have the True Writer Pinkly. And I got Bahama Blue for $8.30 vs the current $25.50.

Except that might be the only way to get some colors. Like Pinkly. I do have an empty or two with the black/white box.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
