I'm getting two bottles of ink (and a pen) cos the pen was 50% off and I wanted to spend enough to get free shipping so I paid full price for the ink...

The inks are Lamy Sepia and the new Petrol.

Will work for pens...

I love them and hate them. They keep delivering temptation directly to my inbox--dangerous. They have intriguing colors--dangerous. And then I want to get one only to find out it's gone--sadness. (Still mourning missing out on Fighting Fish.)

Doesn't stop me buying them, though.

I feel your pain.  I was NEVER able to get my hands on a full bottle of their Smithfield Street Bridge Truss Blue -- even when they still had the B&M store in Pittsburgh (only a couple of sample vials, which I'm kind of hoarding at this point...).

I just did a quick Google search for Fighting Fish -- and oooooh!  That is pretty!

I know! That's how they got me with the Tiger Lily - and orange is not a color I usually use!

It's also how they got me with the latest ink bundle. But one of those inks, Suncatcher, is now one of my absolute favorite inks.

Looking up Fighting Fish - I think you should look at Suncatcher - they are very close!

I bought Colorverse Quasar and Dominant Industry Dominant Blue. I’m chasing blurples. Touching on BPC, I really want their Ultramarine.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 20 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, FWP Edwards Gardens

MontBlanc 310s F, mystery grey ink left in converter

Pelikan M300 green striped CIF, Colorverse Moonlit Veil

Pelikan M400 Blue striped OM, Troublemaker Abalone

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

Ah, the old “the one I wanted, the one I needed and the one for free postage” gambit.

Four out of the five colours (i.e. all except date gokoro) of Sailor Yurameku Ink 2nd Edition. Bunbougu's Easter sales campaign makes the inks approximately the same price as what I would pay at full retail in the Japanese domestic market for them; and four bottles (discounted) qualifies for free shipping within Australia.

What are the chances of that? 😵👍🏼

I'm very jealous that you got to go to their old B&M! I've only bought a few inks that I've ever regretted; I've regretted far more that I didn't get.

Ooh! Thank you for the heads-up! I did grab Glassblower's Flame--also pretty--but I think you're right!

Well, living in the Pittsburgh area helped.  I do miss that store, even though it was small, because Nick and his brother made a point of keeping the prices of the inks they sold (and they had a nice selection, including stocking De Atramentis inks) at the same price that online retailers charged -- in spite of being in the shopping area in a fairly ritzy neighborhood, where parking is a major PITA (I often got lucky and could park in "residential" street parking as long as I was there for under an hour).

Amaranth is one of my favourites. Highly underrated Diamine imho. Tsuchi is super nice as well, but I have KWZ Honey and it is very similar so can't justify!

Oh - I LOVE Glassblower's Flame! I'm writing a letter with that as we speak. :)

All right--ordered Suncatcher!! (And maybe Tiger Lily and Moon Jellyfish, but I'm not sayin'.)

I didn't want to have Suncatcher gone the way of Fighting Fish--thank you so much for the tip!

I'm not sure that these purchases qualify as exactly 'impulsive', because I have been thinking of ordering them for Some Time.
However, some recent events have piqued my interest in these inks, and certain other recent events chez moi have provoked in me a need for some 'retail therapy'.

So, today I have ordered bottles of:

  • Sailor 'Sou Boku'
  • Rohrer & Klingner 'Alt-Bordeaux'
  • Pure Pens 'John Frost'

I hope to receive them soon, so that I can 're-gruntle' myself by playing with them ;)

Thanks to Kaiteki Art's flower videos, two Taccia inks, but dang if I can remember their names.  Both nominally blue.  One's saturated and sheens copper and its box is illustrated with those Hokusai waves.  The other is watercolor-y, with a picture of a bridge in the rain.

Wait!  Saturated is Koiai.  Watercolory: Ainezu.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Hey Mercian  How have you been  😀

Souboku is such a cool ink. I started using it a number of months ago.  Turned out to be a great shader.  Have you thought about what pen you're going to use?
