I bought a bottle of Herbin Vert de Gris at the art supply store next to the post office. It was my reward for filling out forms and queuing at said post office. Almost bought a big bottle of Perle Noir but left it for next time.

How cool to have an art supply store next to your Post Office.

It’s really cool, a very neighborhoody place. It’s walking distance from me so sometimes it’s also a reward for being active. They give coupons that you scratch off and save up to 40%.

I finally ordered a bottle of Octopus Fluids Write and Draw Brown Penguin, along with a bottle of White Lightning from Vanness. I also ordered Pilot cartridges in purple, green, and red from Amazon.

@Runnin_Ute thank you for sharing the image of that Lamy ink.

You're welcome.

It's an interesting color. The pen I used on the Colo-ring card is a Parker 45. The collar says it is an A (accountant) nib, but it looks more like an oblique of some sort. I have since put it in a second pen - a Pelikan M205 DUO (BB) and the look is a bit different. The smudge on the card was done on purpose to show the range of color.

I’m a sucker for le inks.  And I managed to snag a bottle of noodles cupids legion.  It fills a hole in my ink lineup at least - I don’t have many reds at all.

I'm really curious as too how Cupid's Legion compares to Grinch Garnet (both color-wise and in terms of behavior -- the only real downside I've seen to Grinch Garnet (so far, anyway) is that it's got a relatively long dry time.

I have both. If you can be patient I should be able to pull together an informal side-by-side review. I have a decent selection of papers - is there any specific paper on which you'd like to see the inks together? I have more than a few "duplicate" pens, notably Jinhao in all nib sizes, so can at least be scientific about the writing instruments I use.

Whatever is convenient for you to pull together.  Remember -- I use cheap sketchpads from Barnes and Noble for ink testing and comparisons.

ETA: Mostly I just want to know what the two inks look like next to each other, to decide if it's worth me even bothering to get a bottle of Cupid's Legion.  Grinch Garnet was just enough different in color from other magenta/pink inks I already had that I'm glad I got it -- but it might not be worth me getting a bottle of Cupid's Legion as well.

Can you characterize that paper for me? Maybe it would be easier for me to just send you some Cupid 💘

The sticker on the one to hand says "Piccadilly Sketchbook"; "200 pages" and "120 gsm, acid-free paper".  They're top spiral-bound and the most recent one I bought cost $7 + tax.  I think the pages are 6" x 9", and they tended to be in the front section of B&N stores, where their "bargain" books are located.  I'm currently working on the fourth one, but have.a fifth one when vol. 4 gets filled up (I'm kinda doing 1 sheet per ink, front and back.  I don't do swabs but I do try to do comparisons of inks which are similar to each other in color (stuff like "X ink is redder and dries mores slowly than Y ink".  And I look for stuff like feathering and showthrough/bleedthrough.

I started with them because they were inexpensive, and because they're *not* high quality paper (unlike stuff like Tomoe River).

TACCIA Sunao-iro Midori and Cha.

I just picked up grinch garnet. I had thought it was all sold out but Vanness had a bottle.  So I will do a side by side when it comes in.

I’m curious though, have you had any experience with Piccadilly paper reacting with your ink?  I have a ton of them (my family likes to be supportive of my journal hoarding haha) and every single one I have used distorts the ink colors   It almost looks like there is come chemistry happening.  I’m just curious if your experience is the same as mine.

I think I may have, but it seems to depend on the ink.  But I've also had issues with the ink varying by not only what paper is being used, but also by how long it's been in a specific pen (i.e., whether the ink has evaporated somewhat).

A small bottle of the discontinued Iroshizuku Tsukushi is on order. I saw it mentioned by two people in another thread. It didn’t show up at first except in reviews. I checked AliExpress, and found it there. I almost walked away, but I saw the True Writer Kyoto, another discontinued color, and completed the order. The True Writer Kyoto has some dark brown and bits of pink in it, so the ink might be a good

match.

At an estate sale last weekend, I picked up several vintage pens, plus a half full bottle of Skrip Blue (yellow box, jar with the inkwell shelf); and a mostly empty bottle of vintage Quink Washable Brown (40s era style bottle) -- but I'm thinking there's enough for maybe a couple of fills left.

And the pens, the inks, and a paperback cost me five bucks total.  Can't beat that....

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
