I have no experience with new Parker Duofold (or with any other new pen) but I agree when C. and then FredRydr go for the 30's Duofold, and Black (even better) with not so many gold rings an so on...

Thank you Fred. Yes, me too, I like both. Colorful pens and Black ones. Although I think that nothing can beat RHR, I mostly choose Black pens for my Photo comparisons:

Black is the best color to focus view on design and shape of a pen.

Hey Christof,

I am just curious, would you mind explaining what's the big deal on RHR? They are red, hardrubber, and prone to cracking... :-(

Hmmm, hard to explain to someone who doesn't feel the same passion obviously. I'd say that the reasons are quite subjectively...like the color, the feel in general and so on.

Okay, this has nothing to do with the mentioned "new project" above. But still, I'd like to show you my newest.

Due to extraordinary circumstances, I was able to acquire an extraordinary pen! Although it's a common 1930 Parker Duofold Senior, the condition and the color are remarkable - the color looks like at the day, the pen left the shop! I still can't believe to own such a pen now... Lucky me!

HAPPY EASTER!

And to you!

That is a great bunny. Very much in the style of the Pelikan and the Guiness animals of advertising fame. Do you have a date for that Matador lagomorph? I wonder whether it was before after the acquisition by Pelikan.

Best,

Dick

What a great piece of Matador ephemera---particularly since the address is part of it. Although I wish the bunny were holding the Turbo a little tighter--I'd hate to see it go rolling off the table!

Dick

I am quite sure the bunny is a pre war item. The building at Christofstrasse 5 was destroyed during the war.

But what do you mean with: "the acquisition by Pelikan" ?

C.

C,

Again this may be my failing memory and a lack of fact-checking, but i thought Pelikan bought Matador to cut down the competition to the school pen market after the War.

If this is not correct, entshuldigen!

Best,

an abashed Dick

No problem Dick, but you mean GEHA, right?

Thanks!

I did cut the TSE ref.

Subbed a GEHA transliteration as more to the point at least in German.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
