Well...... Here!

btw: did you get the "51"s?

Hmmm...summer seems to come rather late in Switzerland. Its monsoon in a lot of asian countries.

I know the package is here, I wasn't at home so the postman left a slip. I'll collect myself this Saturday and update you.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi all

Summer brake has finished and I'm back at the Office and the Hobby. Well, I used the time to wotk a Little bit on my photographing and technic. In the past, I went to the Studio with my pens for taking Pictures. This was a bit laborious, so I wanted to have a small "at home Studio" for quick shots . Here is what I built last week:

Actually, It's the usual set up: White walls, soft light from the ceiling and camera on tripod. Just scaled! I did some test shots and was surprised about the results. Quite good I'd say. But have a look yourself:

I often got asked how I do my pen pics. Well, here's the answer.

But now, I need to get some really exciting pens to photograph....let's see what's next.

Nice rig!

I also see some records below. Are you a record collector as well?

I would not say that I am a collector but I have a weak spot for vintage Vinyl records of classical piano Music...

Here, two of my favourites:

Nice!

Looks like you were born in the analog era. I've seen a record, but never heard one. The only analog source I've used is the audio cassette.

What amp and headphones do you use?

I'm asking because I'm an audio geek myself. Most of my collection is digital, but I use a DAC + Amp + Sennheiser HD650 for my setup.

Well, I do not know the exact border between analog and digital technology but in 1973 electrical Engineering

has been pretty advanced ... as can be seen on the cover of another favourite record of mine.

I prefer to answer this back channel because this is a fountain pen forum, still.

Sure :ninja: but what is 'back channel'? I'm hearing it for the first time.

Anyways, I like how the photos have a diffused shadow, they help show a greater surface of the pen(s).

What did you make the box out of?

To which montblanc model belongs the pen in your next to last photograph? It seems a 32, but I don't see the usual ink window

A cartridge filler 32? I have never before seen one of those! Congratulations on a nice pen.

During the summer break, we also spent a week at the cottage in the mountains, where temperatures are more comfortable than in the city during the heat of the summer.

This time I was a little bit nervous before leaving our flat in the city. Not because of the journey… I was nervous, because me newest aquisition has not been in the mail yet. I bought a really cool pen here on FPN, a Waterman’s 55 in plain black HR. I prefer the smooth surfaces on these HR pens more than the chased ones. This is a pen you don’t find every day on FPN, but this one was even more special. It was fitted with a flexible „Ballpoint“ nib. So, there was no way to resist and I bought the pen. Although I do not really collect Waterman’s pens, I have a weak spot for the archaic and iconic design of these 1920’s HR pens, from the smallest #52 1/2 V to the #58!

Well, the pen arrived just in time, one day before departure. Time enough to fill it with black quink and put it in the pocket. The funny thing about this nib is, that it can be used on both sides. Smooth and wet, as it should be, producing a very fine line when used on reverse side. Here comes a couple of pics of the pen and a sketch I have done during my holidays with this pen and a Pentel brush pen. Enjoy!

Christof,

What do you know, I also acquired a ballpoint (52) recently. But My ballpoint is real broad though, like a BB?

Just a short update about a "little" birthday present I made myself.

Last week I presented here my new Waterman's #55. I really was excited about this pen and I think I got a bit in a Waterman's hard rubber rush, finally buying another one. It's this pen:

http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2836/9650206739_7834a717d0_c.jpg

It's a huge Waterman's #58 in woodgrain hard rubber. A pen I always wanted to own. And here comes a size comparison:

from top down:

Waterman's #52V olive ripple

Waterman's #52 RHR

Waterman's #55 BHR

Waterman's #58 woodgrain HR

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7455/9650207593_9b02a8ffb0_c.jpg

This pen is really huge. It's the biggest pen I ever owned. But unbelieveable cool...

fpn_1378115706__watermans_58_2.jpg

...and huge is also the nib!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
