@AmandaW that’s a good idea. I’ll try that.

I showed my Levenger Pinkie to my husband and asked which file might fit. He said he has a set like this and thought there would be one in there. It keeps changing the Amazon to the Australian one for me, but hopefully you can figure it out.

Will work for pens...

Off Topic just commiserating:
The hobby will break your heart at times. I cracked the cap (negligence & my fault) on an Italian LE from 2001, a rollerball and I thought they’d be able to repair it but after waiting 6 months they couldn’t, which I’m not complaining about. It was made from cellulose acetate. The numbering is on the barrel. While I’m not in this for the money, the few you can find are $1,995. I have the matching FP, so I can use that cap, but it hurts.

Thank you. I think I’ll still try going to the hardware store. Maybe they’ll have one that doesn’t come in a set. Although they might not.

@AmandaW please thank your dear husband for me. I went to the hardware store, and got a triangular file and handle. It does fit, but I didn’t budge it on my first attempt. I’m soaking the nib in pen flush, to make sure the ink is as gone as possible.

I did get help at the hardware store, and I’m glad the file I bought fits only enough to be useful. I might will need someone stronger than I am to get it turning. The Rose True Writer is an attractive pen, and I so want to be able to use it.

@mge01park thank you for commiserating. I’ve seen True Writer sections on eBay, interestingly for me it’s the Kyoto section. I’ll keep an eye on eBay. I so wanted to be able to say I saved that neglected pen. Maybe I still will be able to. But it’s been a frustrating pain.

My most recent True Writer acquisition is this Cafe au Lait with F nib. I filled it with J Herbin Cacao du Bresil ink.

It has a monogram of NEC.

I’ve looked up acronyms. It could stand for Not Even Considered, National Electrical Code, Nuclear Energy Commission, National Electoral Council, Not Elsewhere Classified.

Thank you for the suggestions. The pen was sold as is, so no. I do have a spare housing to use one I get the bad one out.

Can you post pic’s of the Kyoto?

If you check page 5 in this thread, there are 4 photos of my Kyoto pen. Kyoto has navy blue and purple colors in among the amber and brown or whatever they named the colors.  If you click on the page 16 of 16, it will open a window to let you jump to a page. Type in 5 and and enter, then scroll down to see the photos.

It is, indeed, the Kyoto.  Although similar to the Tortoise, the Kyoto has the blue and pinkish elements seen in your photos.  Congratulations!

I found it and appreciate the input. 🙏😊

Thanks for that tip as I was checking to see the difference as I had some rollerballs side by side. The first one has some blue in it but up close it’s lighter than navy. I have the Kyoto FP in M never used & in the box (not shown).

TW Rollerball ( a bit off topic) - which refills do you use? I use as a slight majority the Levenger fiber tip in the broad 2.0 and also the M and the G-2 in navy broad. For steel tips I’ve gone with Ohto B and some of the Schmidt and Monteverde (both owned by Yafa). I’ll move this if anybody is unhappy with it.

I read about the fiber tip, which is similar to a felt tip. So I got one of those to try it out in my Kyoto rollerball. So far, besides the one it came with, that’s all I’ve tried.

I’ve found this post from The Well Appointed Desk blog very helpful.  Even the comments can be helpful. I might try the Uni Signo hack for mine as I have a Uni with Bordeaux Black ink which is a burgundy hue. (Click on the underlined word.)

Well, maybe navy was not the word to use. Blue is the word to use. I see some reddish purple in the top pen, which I’d say makes it a Kyoto.

May I ask why you haven’t used the Kyoto fountain pen? Mine say: but we are so cool! I ended up with two Kyoto fountain pens, and one rollerball.

Nippon Electric Company I'd bet.  Also see necam.com

Just haven’t gotten around to it. The nibs are all the same so for me the experience is the same and I’m into many other brands so having 3-5 TW’s in the rotation was enough plus some Select from each group. I have many unused. That’s good news that you have two of them to offset the problem one. 😊. It’s a M nib by the way.

Feeling nostalgic about by Mink TW FP acquired during the Boca Raton store closing sale in 2011. $9.95 with a B nib.

@mge01park oh pretty. I’ve only seen one other photo of the Mink True Writer on Flickr. It’s owned by the blogger Inkophile. I kind of want one, but never see it on eBay.

Well I had one Mink given to me as a special gift when they first came out, then this was at the closing sale and I was tipped off by a salesperson who I knew for many years at the Levenger HQ’s & Outlet in FL. Some other employee got peeved off when they found out it was gone.
