Ugh, this is why I shouldn’t be on this forum. Two more True Writers bought. I got the Origins Anniversary and the Porcelain with M nibs.
I used LEAVES25, and got 25% off each.

I really enjoy writing with my Origins. I just looked up the Porcelain, and it's beautiful! Use them well!

Congratulations 🎊🎈🍾. I’m looking at the Origins in M. I thought I could use my rewards and the leaves25 discount which would have got me to $30 approximately but they don’t allow that which is hard to understand. They should have nothing to do with each other.

I had enough rewards for $10 off, and it wouldn’t let me use both either.

Here’s a thought. I used the LEAVES25 first. Maybe apply the rewards first? Nope, I just tried this, and got the same message about the coupon not applying to the items in my cart.

My last purchase got the rewards points to $20!

Here are the True Writers I received earlier. My brother came to visit for two weeks, so it’s late to get them out. I put them in sunlight. Chromatic is to the left, and the Elements Air is to the right. Chromatic gets lost in the sunlight on one side. The pens are back in the boxes for now.

Those are lovely! I brought my Origins to the pottery studio today and let a couple people try it out, and they loved it.

@Ceramicist that was nice of you. I’m looking forward to seeing the green body of the Origins pen. It will be my first True Writer with a silver tone cap.

I kind of wish it didn't have the silver cap. I think I would've preferred it to be the same resin as the body. Still, the silver tone does provide a nice contrast.

You’ll have to chase the green pen from the early years of the True Writer.

That's an idea although I'm really trying to be selective since I have quite a few pens and don't want things to get out of hand--- like the teddy bears!

It’s too late for me. Pens outnumber everything.

I think that's great. I know my collections, even my pens, bring me great comfort. The almost obsessiveness with which we collect things really speaks volumes. I think the fountain pen represents our attempt to hold fast to the old ways like handwriting and letters written in cursive. It's a way to slow down the rush toward obsolescence.

@Ceramicist I love the way you put that. So very true.

Thank you. I love FPN so much as it's peopled with mostly kindred spirits.

I finally tried the #5 Nemosine nibs I got from Birmingham Pens on a couple True Writers. They fit well. I got 1.1mm stub nibs, ten in all. I put one on the Elements Air, even though it has gold tone trim. Another went on the Silver Seas which has silver tone trim. The Spring Inspired Rose was next, but I’m having trouble pulling out the nib and feed. Another candidate for a 1.1mm stub nib is the original Sea Glass pen, with silver tone trim. I’m cleaning it, then it will get the new nib.

I’ve been doing that on some of my TW Select pens as they take #6 nibs and I found some good sources of nibs (Jowo, Goulet, FPR) & better than what came with them for sure which supposedly are made by Schmidt.

I filled the True Writer Elements Air with J Herbin Bleu Nuit ink. Used it as my pen of the day. It’s great with the Nemosine 1.1mm stub nib.

Sounds nice. I just received my new Herbin anniversary inks the 1670 and 1798 group they release periodically which are the Diamant Blue and Opal Nocturne. I’ll get to use them over the weekend. The last one before these was the 1670 Turquoise which is an ink I’m using every day. It’s great stuff. When I started in pens the Herbin cartridges were my go too.

If you’re trying to maximize your Levenger discounts, break up your purchases into separate orders.  I don’t know offhand whether there is a minimum purchase for each purchase discount, but you’ll find out if you try separate orders.  I had to do that in using points; there’s a maximum you’re allowed to use in any one order, so you have to break things down into separate orders, so each order can benefit from the points discount.  Other discounts may work the same way.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
