Montblanc Cool Grey Ink = Oyster Grey?

It's time to replenish my MB Oyster Grey, but it looks like it is replaced with Cool Grey. Are they the same ink, just renamed, or is Cool Grey a new formulation? If it is a new ink, anyone know how it differs from Oyster Grey?

Seems like those two are either extremely similar or identical. See this post:

Thanks for the info. It's funny, I was even commenting on that post from last May that I forgot all about. If Cool Grey is slightly darker than Oyster Grey, I will like it even more.

I have cartridges of both. After making swabs etc... I can certifie that it is exactly the same ( lovely) ink.

I have to disagree with you.  They are not the same at all.  Cool Grey does not have the green undertone that Oyster Grey does, nor does it shade as well as Oyster Grey.   Happy to say that I still have two bottles of Oyster Grey as it is still my favorite grey ink, but very sad that it has been discontinued,

I was doing 5-6 grays, and I had read/seen how nice MB Oyster/new name Cool Gray, shaded..

I have MB Permanent Gray, which is nothing special.:(

I went to my B&M to buy/order some Lamy Crystal inks, that were not sold in Germany where I am.

In anger, I broke my 'vow' not to buy inks that cost more than €20.

MB Cool Gray cost €23 for what a decade or so ago when a basic 50ml shoe cost 13. That beats inflation investment all hollow.

I like that ink....got to check an gray ink that I forgot....but Cool Gray, is close to Moonstone. On CT and Oxford Optic, one ink was 'better' than the other and reverse on the other paper.

Lamy Crystal Agate is a bit too plain gray, but shades well also. But is the driest ink I have ever used...it needed one drop and only one drop of glycerine, and was still dry....but two drops is too much.

.

Diamine Silver Fox is another good gray ink.

.............

I have to test DA Zementgrau, and ink that reminded me of a flight line after a rain, at dawn before the sun peeks up....I liked it.

It shades, but is darker than MB Cool Gray and PE Moonstone....towards a light black, which I didn't quite remember.

I prefer Cool Gray and Moonstone....in there is more to see with the shading.
