Just saw this sample kit at Fountainfeder.de, the "Robert Oster MudPack"

Is that murky enough ? 😁

The swatch images that Oster does of his inks are mostly pretty useless. He definitely has a talent for creating colors so the disconnect between those images and what his inks actually look like is a bit hard to understand.

I think this grey that I am not re-imagining as green belongs here.  Move it to grey or green if you think if is more appropriate.  Iro kiri-same:

That is really odd. My kiri-same looks NOTHING like this. It's a slightly warm grey without even a hint of green.

This is not what I recalled it looking like either, but I had previously used it only in much finer nibs.

 

I wonder if the heat from my stove could have altered it's composition... I haven't used the bottle in a bit but it's a pretty full bottle.  I'll try another pen later and see what happens.  Since this was a dip test, I wrote until the ink ran dry.

Freaky... but murky.

So more murky evidence.  I think that somehow, even though the pen was flushed and ran clear, and I was only du-testing, there must have been some residual ink in the feed.  Here's from the same bottle, albeit in a much narrower nib, I wrote M on the paper, but it's an F.  I'm not thinking clearly this week, apologies.

It's really surprising how easy it is for ink in the feed to avoid the cleaning process - it's like there are secret alleyways and abandoned buildings to which it flees whenever water or pen flush shows up.  I've found that letting the bulb syringe suck water in through the nib & feed, as well as expel it, and then letting a paper towel wick water out (I deliberately fill the back end of the section with water after wrapping the nib and feed in paper towel) helps significantly.

I actually use a bulb syringe, which is why I don't expect there to be ink in my clean feeds!  Love your alleyways analogy above; I have not tried the paper towel trick and will do so my next fill!  Thanks.  

 

Now I wonder what ink that was... or if it became a mixture and that's why it matched the lines on the paper so perfectly.  Not a color I would normally use.

If you can edit your own post, change the "http://" to "https://" - I just tested in another tab, and it works:

 

 

ETA: If you can't do it, forward URLs for individual posts to a mod (or report them?) and ask the mod to add the "S"?

Thanks!  I think I can do it… might just take a little time, because you can no longer post pics in the same way as before.

You're welcome.  What you would do is select the URL, cut it, then click the "Other Media" button at the lower right corner of the editor window, choose "Insert image from URL", paste the URL you just cut, add "s" to the "http", and click the "Insert into post" button.
