New Faber-Castell Hexo

Faber-Castell recently pitched out a press release about a new pen series — the Hexo.

Has anyone has heard any details beyond the press release?

My curiosities are release date, section material, and if it's using the same famed smooth steel nib as in their their Loom, et al.

I see Anderson Pens now has the Hexo on their website for $40-$45, but it's not yet allowing for orders or pre-orders.

cheers!

I want to read a pen review here to have a more inform opinion. From the picture posted by Faber Castell it looks nice and utilitarian instrument. :)

Thanks for sharing this. The price also seems quite decent. I love faber castell nibs, just hope that this pen is more ergonomic than the Basic and Loom.

Looks like there is also a silver and rose version.

I think this is the first Faber FP I don't find outright ugly. Looks better ballanced. Won't buy Faber though. :)

But the sky will always come to me.™

Recently got a brand new broad nib Loom and I love it it's so smooth.

I'm very interested in the Hexo. Hope it comes in a matt / non-shiny barrel.

Also looking at the Ondoro orange. I like the lightness and non-shiny barrel.

032g Ondoro orange

130g Ondoro graphite black

Love my Looms and e-Motion - not necessarily the ergonomics, but the nibs are great!

I may just have to consider one of these . . .

Unlike what the reviewer has suggested in his video, I do not think that this pen has the beloved Loom nib. Instead, I believe it has the same nib that the Grip possessed. I was only able to test that latter nib in store, and it seemed alright. If the price of these pens is attractive, this may be Faber Castell responding to the critics of their previous pens' ergonomics.

To be honest, it kinda looks like a Pilot Kakuno with a Twsbi Go section. I am quite disappointed with the price. This pen looks like it has the Grip nib and not the Loom nib.

I also looks somewhat like the Kaweco Perkeo all black version.

I'm seeing this advertised for the same price as the Loom / Basic, which both sport the same very good nib. You are right, the nib on the Hexo looks significantly smaller. If it's the same nib as the one on the Grip (and the Neo?), I'm not sure the price makes sense. Also, design wise, the nib looks too small with respect to the body of the pen.

Totally agreed. Also a bit of a shame that FC has increased the Loom price by 50% this year. I no longer consider it a "starter" pen and would never find it comfortable enough to suggest it to anyone for that new price.

I got the Hexo from Endlesspens. My impressions for someone with bigger hands:

-the pen is shorter than I expected it to be

-the tiny nib makes holding the pen not that easy

-the nib is not as satisfying to use as the one on the Loom. Indeed, it is somewhat more difficult to make contact with the page and to get it writing.

-it does not dry out, which is nice

-it is light

I would recommend that you try one before buying. At the regular price, the pen doesn't seem to deliver for me. With a nib that tiny, I'd rather use a hooded nib pen with a seamless design that I can grip anywhere.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
