The Best Montblanc Pens Are From The Meisterstuck Collection

Mood is also important.

There are some days where certain pens appeal to me more than others. That might be because of the colour ink they are loaded with at the time or because I want a different writing experience. The one MB I use daily (and have since I bought it five years ago) is the Heritage 1912. There’s something about the design and the nib that I like enough to use it as my journaling pen each day.

146 or 149? Depends on my mood. Am I feeling expansive and confident? 149. Feeling a bit more reserved? 146. Not a precise science, I’ll agree. If I’m perfectly honest, the 1912 is the only MB that is currently inked. I’m mostly using the Delta Dolce Vita (medium) at the moment. I like a bright coloured pen during the dark winter months.

I did not make up my mind, and in the meantime the 149 is gone...

I'm not upset though, I have a feeling I can find another 149 if I really want one...

(in a way, even though "the best Montblancs" may be "from the Meisterstuck" as the OP claims, the LE/SE are not as readily available...)

The Berstein is still there though, and I'm tempted.

I like how the pen looks, in particular the straight barrel, but I was wondering what the nib is like.

I've searched FPN (and elsewhere) but there is not much on the Bernstein and practically nothing on the nib.

I have a 146 (modern), anyone owning a Berstein would like to describe the nib perforrmance?

The Donation pens‘ nibs perform like any other modern 146 based nib. Only difference comes from the individual hand-grind each Montblanc nibs gets.

Set aside optics they feel very much 146-like.

Cheers

Michael
