I like the Regular. I think Id go so far as to say its my favorite Conid (I have one of the First Production Run - FPR - demonstrators). Theres something about the size, and the security if those damn o-rings that just makes it a pleasure to use for long periods.

I have more Kingsize, but my two regulars get most of the use...

Too many pens; too little writing.

I wonder if someone who has both Regular and Slim can post a photo of them side by side please?

Many photos I have seen on the web are either one by itself. I am still not able to judge their comparative sizes.

Thanks

I feel obligated to report in after several months of finally being able to use my Kingsize Conid. I dealt with long delays and poor communication like so many others, and additionally 2 poorly ground/tuned nib units - the first (a Ti stub) I sent back for replacement, the second (a 14K EF) was delayed many months because of a shortage on Bock's end so when I finally had it I adjusted it myself. After wading through all of that was it worth it? I have to say, yes. The pen is a true pleasure to use and masterfully crafted. Would I do it again? Yes but only if I had a spare KOP nib lying around to throw in it.

I like Conid. I have one in delron. Like to order another, but I can’t even get a price now due to the stoppage. I wouldn’t even mind waiting in the que. I was budgeting around $800 for a Delron, no special order.

Anyone else has open orders and wondering? All and sundry businesses are giving update statements regarding their operations and the current pandemic.

 Yes, timing is everything.

My guess is work stoppage https://www.belgium.be/en/news/2020/coronavirus_reinforced_measures and no updates to their FB page since Dec 2019 means production is nil.

Hope they are all safe and sound as you all

Update: probably reassessment of measures at April 19 - May 3 and pad in a few weeks for folks to get reoriented to the shop/business https://krisenzentrum.be/de/news/krisismanagement/coronavirus-verlaengerung-der-massnahmen-bis-zum-19-april

Pandemics do throw a wrench into manufacturing plans, but even before this they really, really sucked at estimation. So bad, in fact, that I have to assume that there were factors beyond their control involved.

To me, Conid's lack of communication could mean 3 things

1. They don't care

2. They underestimated the time/dollar cost of customer support and really don't have the resources here

3. They don't know the answer

I do not believe #1. I believe 2 and 3, and they have virtually said 3 in emails.

When they write:

"Calculating new ETA’s or providing an insight on the cue has unfortunately become a very difficult and complex task that is not among the priorities."

This is blunt, non-native english speaking, engineer-talk for "I just really don't know when I'll be able to dedicate resources to your problem."

And this was before the COVID pandemic.

It also probably means they are batching production of pens together as makes the most sense from an efficiency standpoint.

If that's true and you're waiting on a Minimalistica and you're supposed to be next in the queue, and their next slot of time on whatever machines is allocated to Regulars, well that just sucks for you.

I'd imagine likely always batched worked this way, but then got behind on parts and maybe lost time on machines. Now they might be playing a game of catch-up where they can't actually make the pens as they are due for some reason, so you see people reporting getting their pens despite ordering them well after you (harumph).

Nobody has any real insight because they're not good at communicating, and they're not even trying at this point.

I would guess those of us waiting will hit a year from our order date before seeing our pens. Even more likely - we never receive our pens because Conid ceases production.

I can tell you I've considered canceling. I probably won't, but I definitely wouldn't even really consider it if they were even remotely communicative at this point. It's so bad that it makes me suspicious.

I just realized that I don't know what happens if I paid with a credit card and they fold. Or how long I have to do a chargeback post-order...guess I'm going to read up on that.

My opinion is that companies/services are all making statements regarding their services, production etc. as it's affected by the COVID outbreak. Some companies/services are more affected than others and in this light, it's only natural and appropriate that customers are made aware of what's happening, what is and what isn't available. It can be in the form of an emailed announcement, a popup message on their website or a video.

Additionally, I personally am interested in knowing how they're doing, if they are all safe etc.

What makes this even more damning is that if production has in fact, been stalled by the COVID outbreak, then there should now be time in abundance to let customers with pending orders officially know what's happening, i.e., when production unfortunately stopped etc.

I'm actually stunned at the absence of communication. I'm not suspicious since this implies ill-will on their part, but I can't help but be concerned.

It's really a copy/paste of their newsletter.

I've since received notice of my pen, ordered 7 months ago, is now on the way. So I can confirm that they're still making pens.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
