I had seen one on ebay watch in an auction format where the final price was $610.

 

 

Geez. I should have bought two and flipped them both for some profit, lol. Makes me wonder what they will go for in a year after the dust settles and they aren't coming up for sale anymore!

Well, as a reference you can see the Century 3776 Kumpoo for the insane amount of money sellers are asking.

That was a $300 (CMIIW) pen and now it is being sold around $1200.

 

I wouldn't be surprised to see this nearing $800-$900 in the future once all retailers are out of stock.

Ha, Taizo of Engeika quoted US$195 for the Kumpoo, just before he shut down Engeika's retail operations to concentrate exclusively on his Wancher business. I didn't like the pen (which is a demonstrator, that's not a winning feature with me) enough to buy it, though; and let's just say the other pens for which he quoted me didn't happen either, even though I was much more keen on them and fully ready to part with money.

 

Never mind.

 

I'm still undecided whether the Lamy 2000 Bauhaus is a long-term keeper for me, which is a bit of an unfamiliar feeling to me because in the past every pen I decide to ink is a keeper, and it's only in the past three months or so that I've started entertaining the idea of selling off some of my pens (which I generally think is not worth the hassle, and that's still the case).

im actually surprise he move it into bidding. because until now there are no bids yet. and price is 600$ with 20$ still. Same as when it was first up.

I was strongly and repeated 'encouraged' by @Honeybadgers to get a Lamy 2000, so I blame him. :glare: Yes, just to pre-empt, he was vocally against Lamy's pricing of the Bauhaus LE, but that doesn't make it any different or inferior to the Lamy 2000 Makrolon which he praised for function, fit and finish. I'm not disappointed by the Lamy 2000 Bauhaus in those regards at all, even for a pen that cost me ... let's just say threefold what if would cost me to get an Lamy 2000 Makrolon, without going into actual dollar amounts, so it isn't like he gave me a bum steer, not at all! On the other hand, if it's a choice between the Platinum #3776 Century ‘Matsu-tora’ kanazawa-haku pen and the Lamy 2000 Bauhaus, I'd probably pick the former if I can only have/keep one.

 

Just to be clear, I take sole and full responsibility for each and every one of my purchasing decisions; and, yes, I'm well aware that once the 1,919 units are sold out, I'll probably recoup my purchase price and then some if I choose to sell my Lamy 2000 Bauhaus, even as a used pen. But I don't buy pens with the intention upfront of just experiencing this model or that and then selling them off; that's not my hobby.

I finally have the time to inspect the pen. To my surprise, the pen has uneven finishing. Take a look at the photos and you guys will understand what i meant.

The ebay bidding ends at 971usd. not bad i'd say.

 

I did predicted it came to that price. but bidding should always be lower than buying outright. AFAIK.

Some pens are still available through a few stockists (that don’t have online shops) here in Germany.

 

For those who’re longing for this pen, paying a visit to your local stationery premises will sometimes help.

I think that very soon their will be many offers of Lamy 2000 blue with a price increase .

I really wonder about that long term. 1919 is a pretty good production run, and the pens sold out in a feeding frenzy. But the pen itself is rather quiet and understated, and I wonder how desirable it will still be in a few years.

So its not a big deal then. Good.

In the end its plastic with a brushed finish, so marks or perceived difference in color is due to an uneven wear of the brushed surface. It happens as well if you use a case with a hard surface in contact with the pen, it produces white patches or scratches in the surface finish...

 

They disappear with use and/or a simple rub with your hands.

 

If its a concern for you, change the pen case!

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
