OTOH, get a dedicated demonstrator to use Noodler's BSB for some eye searing magic.

I have been very tempted to get some BSB for work purposes as a lot of my paperwork i have to write is test evidence that companies have to keep referring back to so they can sell their product.

Go for it.

It is water and forgery resistant, so perfect for work duties. They will be able to spot your notes from a mile. biggrin.png

I am all for IG/waterproof inks and use them more than the normal inks.

I might get the KWZ Ink iron-gall Aztec Gold ink (which is pretty close to KWZI Honey?) next time I place an order with La Couronne du Comte. Right now I'm waiting for LCdC to tell me when the Aurora Centa% Italia Ipsilon and the Sailor kabazaiku pens are available for purchase and immediate dispatch.

In the meantime, I've just placed an order on Rakuten for the four Platinum iron-gall Classic Ink colours I don't already have, but on this occasion I passed on getting Platinum Blue-Black (which is also iron-gall, as far as I'm aware, but just not in the Classic Ink product line) and/or Platinum Blue Pigment, in favour of Platinum Rose Red pigment ink.

OTOH, I was going to procure a Pilot Falcon at some point. What exactly don't you like about it?

I don't like how broad the SF nib writes, even though I like the pen body rather better than I do the Custom 74 (of which I had two, including one with an SF nib, that was the only pen I ever sold). As far as Soft nibs go, I much prefer the Pilot Elabo's SEF nib and the Platinum #3776 SF nibs. I have an unopened Pilot Namiki Falcon with SEF nib sitting in a box, actually, and I guess I should ink that up and test it before the return window closes, since it is neither a pen I'm intending to dispose of by selling, nor one that's precious and hard-to-replace to the point that I can't bring myself to use it after purchase.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

KWZ has some nice IG colours. I would suggest adding a few of them to your collection.

Good choice with the Platinum Classic. Did you get all six?

The Rose Red is a nice colour. I had overlooked that shade, perhaps a sample is in order.

The review for the pens is great along with the hand writing. thumbup.gif

I think I can live with the Falcon though I do get the nib variation. Unsure between the SEF and SF.

The 3776 has not been as inviting as I had hoped and hence has been left out.

Heritage 92 could be a contender in a 'B' nib.

It is, however, very prone to fading, thus probably not suited for writing that will have to be kept and referred back to for many years. Writing samples of it are one of the first to completely disappear in the fade tests I've seen.

Any links please? What sort of testing?

It is not bulletproof but ought to be adequate for internal use.

Thank you.

An interesting phenomenon for such a saturated ink.

I had a look through some of my old scribbles and they are fine and hence the issue never even occurred to me.

Most are in a folder.

Apart from BSB, all the other inks are 'bulletproof' and would have been used more often.

I shall keep a watch on how long my notes in the folder take to fade.

I do have the properties chart and looking at it, it is a definite oversight on my part. headsmack.gif

When I bought BSB, I must have noted it but didn't give it a thought as I was intending to use it internally.

I use KWZ iron gall blue number 5. Wonderful color ,shades beautifully. The only problem I have is that unlike my other iron gall, R&K salix which writes dry but is very good for my hospital crappy paper, kwz is very wet and bleeds through quite a lot

Fade tests are just a crude exaggeration of what might happen over a much longer time in a notebook (which may or may not be stored in good conditions, prolonging the process even further), so they're to be taken not literally but as references. I, for one, don't fret over inks that lose their vibrancy and colour (but remain as a dark line) over a few months of hanging in a sunny window, but I am concerned when an ink fades completely and tracelessly.

Don't bother and disregard my earlier enthusiasm.

It may have been fine, in my case, kept in a folder but it does have appalling fade resistance (links are in an earlier post).

Go with any of the Noodler's Bulletproof range but there will be no eye searing magic, I am afraid.

You can consider the Bad Belted Kingfisher or Bad Blue Heron, both available at Pure Pens.

I did notice however that the ink penetrates pretty well, so you'll need to be mindful of what paper is used.

I remember seeing a bit of bleed-through from KWZ Ink Honey on the pages of a made-in-Indonesia Muji "show-through resistant" B5 notebook (the 12th and 13th lines from the top in the photo here), but not the pages of:

Yeah after reading a bunch of these comments and looking at the links i am struggling to find any benefit to BSB considering how much of a pain in the rear end it is to use. I think I will treat myself to some KWZ IG inks at some point.

I have never had any issues with BSB including fading but that doesn't mean it won't happen.

Avoid using it for work but you can use any of the 'bulletproof' series, which have no such issue.

The two inks I mentioned are decent blues and I have had no issues with them either.

KWZ IG is always an option.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
